What To Do With Your Kids On A Rainy Day

You dont have to let a rainy day ruin all the fun. As the parent, you have the power to turn a day stuck in the house into a fun and educational adventure. With young kids and their wild imaginations, you can have a lot of fun with just a little bit of thinking. A good way to expand their minds is to have fun with senses.

We will start off with the sense of smell. For younger children, the sense of smell can be an amazing thing, something that they don’t think about. The sense of smell is not just a simple sense. There are many ways to have fun exploring it. For example, blind fold a child and ask them to find a specific scent within a room. Place strong smelling items in various corners throughout the room. Let their nose guide them from place to place.

Playing with vision can be pretty fun too. Most kids dont really appreciate the sense of vision. And because their sense are still young, kids who cant see will have a hard time. Clear the room of any possible harmful objects, then let the kids go blindfolded, feeling for certain things. This will really put them to the test.

And we cant play with senses without of course exploring touch. The cool part is, touching activities tend to get messy so kids really like these ones. Put a container of sorts face down. Then cut a whole in it large enough so your kids can poke their hands through. Then you will want to pour all kinds of weird stuff inside. Try things like hamburger meat, raw eggs, just make sure they wash their hands afterwards. The surprise of it all is the best part. This is something that is really fun.

It is time to test your kids hearing. A simple and easy game to do is to just have them close their eyes and listen to sounds from differnt places. You can also take the adventure outside. Then you just throw a blindfold on them and have them come to your voice. You’ll want to time them to see how long they take. Always practice safety too!

Tasting can be pretty fun for kids too. The tricky part is getting them to try new foods. You have many ways to do this. You gotta get them in the kithen for starters. Then you can let them help you get everything ready. And whether they like the taste or not, they still get to try something new.

With older children, explore textures, too. The crunch of a carrot mixed with the softness of bread creates a unique texture in the mouth. What happens when vegetables are cooked instead of eaten raw? Explore each of these areas thoroughly with them.

Fun activities for kids can fall into that learning category, too. Kids love to explore new things and play games, especially when mom or dad gets to help them with it. Best of all, you will want to spend your time explaining why things happen the way they do. These kids fun games and projects are something you can do with your child!
