All That You Wanted To Know About Global Warming

March 10th, 2010

It’s a well known fact that the worldwide temperature rises as a phenomenon is on everybody’s lips. Everywhere from television channels to newspapers can been seen reflecting the same. Though it’s the most debated issue of the present times, there are a few folks who are still unaware of what it is all about. Let’s shed some illumination about the same.

Put in simple words, global temperature rises can be most exactingly described as an overall increase in the earth’s temperature.2 human activities have affected the environmental balance, leading to overall increase in the temperature. Business and commercial activities are one of the prime causes of global warming.

While the earth’s temperature has been increasing steadily over time, fresh times have seen a steep increase of the frequency as well as speed of mutating seasons. In other words, the temperature increase of the planet has been accelerated to never previously seen proportions.

Talk about the reasons for global warming and there are plenty to mention. But, it is the burning of fossil fuels that’s to be basically blamed for worldwide temperature increases. Burning of normal fuels has been undeniably linked to global warming.

There are numerous unwelcome results of global temperature increases on the climate and the environment. Firstly, global temperature increases marks and increase in the temperature. This means that summers are more hotter and the winters are not so cold. Longer summers and shorter winters are another implication of global warming.

Further on, world temperature rises also leads to increased evaporation. This in turn leads to unusual rainfall events.A majority of the floods can be traced to global temperature rises. Increased temperature over land can has also lead to desertification of heavy areas. Acute weather events like hurricanes and storms are also a result of the changes in temperature caused due to global temperature rises.

The most heavy impact of global temperature increases is on the polar ice caps. As a consequence of increase in temperature, the polar ice caps have already started softening. This has lead to an increase in the water levels of the oceans.Melting of polar ice caps has further raised the technique of global warming. The ice bounces back a major chunk of daylight into space. Without the ice, the whole daylight is absorbed by the earth, leading to further increase of temperature.

Increases water levels- which are also part of global warming- can finish up in the submergence of tiny islands. Left unchecked, this phenomenon could ultimately lead to the submergence of whole continents.

Considering the numerous unpleasant effects that world temperature rises has on the environment, it only makes sense that we make conscious effort to mitigate the effects of global warming.

Teach To Other What You Know

February 23rd, 2010

Nothing is worse for an avid reader and a lover of books than having a child who hates to read. Reading to a child early in life will help them foster a love of reading and prepare them to read themselves, but sometimes not even that can be enough to foster a love of the written word. Reading parents know that aversion to reading will haunt their child for the rest of his life, making school harder making the rest of their life harder.

But, as any parent knows, you cannot just say to a 10-year-old who hates reading, “You’re going to read and you’re going to like it.” First, you have to understand why reading is so difficult for your student.

In the school systems today, reading is being taught in an inefficient manner. “Average” readers today read anywhere from 100 words per minute (usually for memorization purposes) to 700 words per minute (“skimming”, looking only for specific key words). As the words per minute go up, reading comprehension goes down, and this is borne out in standardized test scores. With the pressure on slower readers of having to finish the reading section and the comprehension questions within a set period of time, most end up turning to “skimming” looking only at key words in the question and then trying to find them in the reading section. This “cheater” system is only reinforced when the test comes back with a good grade (since they were only looking for specific words).

What would you, as a parent, pay to not only teach your child a better, faster, and easier way of reading but also one that increases their reading comprehension up to over 80%?

How about nothing? When you purchase Speedread America’s Complete Speed Reading Program for yourself, you have Speedread America’s permission “even its blessing” to pass the course on to your friends and family members who love to read and would like to read more or who are struggling to read and are on the fence about reading in general.

Imagine your child reading every word on the standardized test page in less than ten seconds and remembering it! How much better will your child feel about him or herself, being the first in the class that finishes the test instead of the last? Homework and studying time could be cut in half, or more, giving all of you more family time.

Reports from previous customers of Speedread America have shown that less than a month after beginning the Complete Speed Reading Program Family Edition, students’ grades have improved dramatically in some instances rising from a C average to an A in only 21 days!

Dr. Jay Polmar, author of over 40 books, spent years creating the Complete Speed Reading Program, and originally taught it to university students around the United States. Now, he brings his vast knowledge into your home. Bring a love of lifelong learning home to everyone in the family starting at under $70!

First day With The Dynamics Of Speed Reading

February 1st, 2010

Be Dynamic Through Speed Reading method, by Dr. Jay Polmar, is designed for those who read large volumes of printed material. Sometimes they get frustrated when they can’t keep up with all the intriguing literature that is released. Authors around the world produce printed data and fiction, at a rate so phenomenal, that even the most avid of readers struggle to keep up. With our DYNAMIC SPEED READING method, you’ll easily be able to read twice to three times the amount you now read in the same time.

The human brain/mind is capable of comprehending and cataloging from 10,000 to 50,000 units of information every minute (one unit being equal to one word) and this is based upon old statistics. Based on new technology in education and strides in self-development, your brain/mind is capable of much more.

The human body is a vehicle that records various senses and transfers them to the brain/mind. The brain/mind acts like a computer. Perhaps the brain/mind is the body’s operational computer to make easier for us to learn. We learn through information (data) which is transmitted in many ways. We receive data through our five physical senses, and our brain/mind makes decisions, choices and judgments from those factors.

Our limitations in reading were programmed during childhood when we were first taught to read. Yet, brain/mind researchers have shown that through DYNAMIC SPEED READING method, thousands have broken that pattern and increased speeds dramatically.

This course teaches techniques for becoming Dynamic. We expect you, minimally, to become a speed reader who likes to read and improve the quality of your life. Maximally, we expect great, positive successes from our students. A beginning average reading speed for the average American high school graduate is about 250 words per minute. Those from the south read somewhat slower because of their drawl. Those who stutter also read slower. An average college student reads approximately 300 w.p.m.

Take note: Recent studies have indicated that the English reading rate has dropped due to poor education in the past decade. The reduction of reading speed is astounding averaging 35% poor reading rates in the US. Be Dynamic undoes the damage of poor education system and was developed by Dr. Jay Polmar, who studied in the US when education mean something special and reading was king.

Fashion Mistakes Men Need To Avoid

January 31st, 2010

Fashion is as critical to men as to girls. dressing fashionably does not come as naturally to men as it does to women and most end up committing some type of style faux pas. Some of these errors are acceptable while others are complete catastrophes. Here we show you how to avoid those crises.

One of the most common fashion mistakes that many men make is ganging up socks with sandals. This is a complete no-no. Socks go in only with shoes. Wearing them with sandals can make you look funny. Many men wear sandals for a causal look and are forced to wear socks due to the cold weather. To create a casual look without catching cold, you can select loafers or sneakers rather than shoes. It will keep your feet covered and you may have your socks on.

Off late, many men have shown a desire towards novelty ties, shirts, shorts and other clothing items. As cool as these novelty clothing items may look, they are to be dodged at all cost. The smiley face on the necktie or the boxer shorts printed with 12 hearts could be visually appealing but is a disaster when worn. For men, straightforward is always better.

Exhibiting design labels is also another fashion faux pas. Many men tend to wear items of clothing with brand names imprinted boldly on them. You don’t have to publicize any particular brand; especially not by wearing duds which have the name written in loud letters across the chest, the arm or the back. Attempt to keep it as easy and understated as possible.

If you have corpulent shoe, you may want to discard them right away. This is one ’90’s fashion trend you will need to stay away from since it doesn’t work at all in the new millennium. While all corpulent shoes are equally out of date, it is the square toed variety which is the most disastrous looking of them all. So if you have them, give them and select more classic styles which can be worn any year.

No matter how much you like the bling, stay away from it as much as feasible. Glittery and glossy attire have no place in someone’s wardrobe, not even for club nights. Such kind of clothing typically finish up making you look tacky. Instead wear the simple and polished black shirt and you’re bound to grab some eyeballs wherever you are.

Avoid these fashion mistakes and you can steer clear of becoming the laughing stock of the town.

Learning the Mechanics of Speed Reading

January 6th, 2010

The human mind is an extraordinary force of which we only use a very small portion. In this book, “Speed Reading in only One Hour” I will demonstrate how to tap some of that unused power and use it for your own success in high school, college, and life.

Your brain is capable of understanding from 10,000 – 50,000 units of data per minute; one unit equals one word. This information is based upon old statistics (1980’s). Based on recently developed speed reading technology, and strides in brain and mind development, you can achieve even greater reading speeds.

The average high school graduate, when tested, reads about 250 words per minute. The college student reads at about 300 words per minute. But, no matter what your beginning reading speed, don’t worry, it is only the starting line. Imagine what an advantage you will have to be able to read over 100% faster than you had before; the possibilities are limitless.

We receive information through our five physical senses, (touching, tasting, hearing, smelling, and seeing) and by those we make decisions. We make choices and judgments from the factors that our physical senses bring into play. The five physical senses (sight, smell, hearing, taste, touch) are preprogrammed for automatic reaction.

We learn in many way, not only from physical senses, but through other forms of thought. Most thinking is conscious in nature. Senses, on the other hand, work automatically. An example of an automatic response might be: when a hungry teenager smells pizza, he or she begins salivating. Or was that Pavlov’s dog? Actually, it’s the same! What’s taking place is that the sense of smell (called olfactory senses) has automatically brought up a thought, “PIZZA”, to the brain and mind. The thought may be unconscious.

Sensing food is a physical expression of your sense smell and possibly taste. It is a mental sensation (unconsciously or consciously) through your thought processes. And finally, there seems to be a physical sensation by eating, swallowing, and smiling. To summarize the PIZZA concept here: Mind is where the “action” is — and your body is where your “reaction” is.

Your brain and the mind has awesome untapped potential; I’ll teach you how to tap into that potential by using the course Speed Reading in One Hour, available at speedread.org . I’ll show you how you can be a total success in your college life and beyond.

Speak and Understand The Italian Language

December 31st, 2009

The descendent of Latin, the language spoken in the Roman empire, Italian is now spoken by more than 60 million people. Unlike its ancestor, however, Italian has grammar that is considered much easier to learn.

Reasons for learning Italian range from preparing for a trip to Italy to retiring on the Italian coast. Many others learn Italian because their ancestors came from Italy or because they want an advantage in applying for jobs. No matter what your reason may be for learning Italian, learning a new language is a very rewarding process.

One factor that may help speed up your studies of Italian is if you already have knowledge of another romance language like Spanish or French. Linguists consider these languages to be very similar and if you know one, you will find that you already know much of the vocabulary and grammar.

English speakers worldwide think of Italian as a very beautiful language. Unlike English, Italian puts a lot of emphasis on vowel sounds and many Italian words have vowel sounds at the end.

Tricky Italian points for English speakers include determining gender for nouns since words are either of the masculine gender or of the feminine gender. Additionally, verbs are conjugated with very different forms depending on the subject of the sentence.

However, comforting points include the fact that Italian word order is very similar to word order in English. Italian is also a subject-verb-object language like English so English speakers will find it very easy to begin creating new sentences in Italian.

Because so many people are interested in learning Italian, there is a great variety of Italian language learning programs for you to choose from. From audio programs to traditional textbooks, you will never be at a loss for materials to learn from.

If you decide to learn the beautiful Italian language, remember to make a serious commitment. Learning any foreign language can be a tough process but if you stick with it and make a consistent effort over a long period of time, you will continually improve your Italian abilities. That being said, don’t forget to relax and enjoy the language, as well! You can read a good Italian novel or listen to Italian music among many other fun activities. These practices will not only improve your Italian but can be some of the most fun and rewarding experiences for you in your Italian language pursuit.

Are You a Candidate for an Athletic Scholarship?

December 9th, 2009

Students in 2009 (and their families) can expect to pay about $80,000 for a four-year college program. What’s more, that figure continues to rise at the rate of 6.5% every year. If you are considering a private school, go ahead and double it. If, however you’ve been a good sport – literally – throughout high school, chances are you can look beyond standard student loans, financial aid and grants for assistance. Why not apply for an athletic scholarship? About $1.2 billion in scholarship money is awarded to students every year in exchange for their performance on various fields. Here are a few of the basics for you to kick around:

1. Age matters! To qualify to play sports at the college level you must be between’ and 24 years old. Your chances of landing a scholarship decrease the longer you wait to attend college after high school graduation, so plan to go straight from high school to college.

2. The NCAA (National College Athletic Association) recognizes 29 sports; therefore scholarships are available for them depending on the campus. Men’s sports include: Soccer, Baseball, Water Polo, Fencing, Volleyball, Cross Country, Track & Field (Indoor & Outdoor), Rifle, Basketball, Swimming and Diving, Golf, Football, Gymnastics, Ice Hockey, Tennis, Skiing (Cross Country and Downhill), Lacrosse and Wrestling.

The men’s sports are: Wrestling, Baseball, Water Polo, Basketball, Volleyball, Cross Country, Track & Field (Indoor & Outdoor), Tennis, Fencing, Swimming and Diving, Football, Golf, Gymnastics, Ice Hockey, Rifle, Skiing (Cross Country and Downhill), Lacrosse and Soccer.

3. Only the most successful college sports programs have the resources to send recruiters out to high school games to check out the star players. For coaches and players in other scenarios, it’s a good idea for the player to be aggressive off of the field. Make sure you introduce yourself during your campus visit and drop off your sports bio and media clips.

4. Get accepted first. You can’t be considered for an athletic scholarship until you’ve been accepted to the university in the first place based on your SAT and overall application packet.

If you do land an athletic scholarship, there’s something to keep in mind. Playing at the collegiate level is a big commitment and you won’t have much free time for other things. Strongly consider the major you choose because in all likelihood you won’t be playing your sport of choice professionally after you college years have passed. Choose a career that fulfills you completely and look forward to success off the field as well.

Beginning Tutoring.

November 18th, 2009

It is important when starting a tutoring experience to make an agreement with the tutor. It should outline what the student and teacher expect from each other. It should also have concrete goals for the student, and outline what should be done when the goals are being completed. No tutor will be able to instantly fix grades, but with the proper communication, you can make great improvements.

Right up front, everybody should know that it’s not a tutor’s job to do the student’s homework. That not only wastes time and money, but it lessens the student’s chance to understand his homework. The act of struggling through material is important because it allows the student to realize the places where they might go wrong. For example, if a math tutor corrects every mistake instantly, a student won’t remember which method was the correct one.

The agreement should also outline what the tutor brings to the table. Beware of any tutor who refuses to bring prepared notes to each session. Also beware if they don’t know what subjects to prepare, or when test dates are occurring. The tutor should be closely in contact with teachers and parents to make sure that he or she always knows about upcoming tests.

I’ve found that a student should need to work about an hour outside of tutoring sessions for each hour that he or she spends in session. This time is intended to maximize the efficacy of the tutoring sessions by giving the student plenty of time to practice the new material. An hour might not be the perfect amount of time for you, but it should be outlined in your agreement.

If a student is working with an English tutor or a writing tutor then he or she should spend much more time outside of sessions preparing. It could be up to 5 or 6 hours preparing writings and reading prose before a student is ready to work with the tutor. Remember that practice is always important, no matter the subject.

Since the point of working with a tutor is to maximize the students learning in a given area, it is not generally wise to give up tutoring once grades have recovered. Rather it is more effective to begin learning some other skills that aren’t being taught in class. For example, a math tutor might teach mathematic programming, or an English tutor might teach an additional novel or poet.

Hopefully you now have the information necessary to begin working with a new tutor. With the proper agreement of how time should be spent, you’ll no doubt have a good experience. If your tutor is not living up to the goals you set forth, then you should start seeking a new one immediately.

Education Turning to Web’s Learning Management System

October 30th, 2009

The learning management system is evolving into a valuable resource. With the economy in turmoil, and H1N1 virus epidemic, continuity of education has become difficult among students of all ages. New Standardize reports results state that proficiency in mathematics within our schools are at a record low, and has California worried.

Due to an increase in termination of teaching jobs as well as a cut in programs from our schools’ curriculum to alleviate budget issues, our student’s education must now pay the price. The No Child Left Behind Law (NCLB) Act of 2001, assesses whether or not our public school systems are providing students with the necessary progression in their education that will enable them to reach the next level. If standards are not met this could potentially be extremely detrimental for California’s school system.

Conversations are taking place with the sole purpose to find an alternative solution to how we can create a revised education system that will appease the budget crisis in California, and not sacrifice the quality of education. Learning management system (LMS) is being introduced as the answer to this problem by creating efficient, inexpensive software to the students that provide curriculum and a way to track their progress in their classes. Exposure to the web and technological advances could potentially increase enthusiasm to learn and enhance their knowledge in many different areas of study.

Not only does a learning management system provide an effective and cost efficient answer to the budget issues and learning content, but hinders continuous spreading of the H1N1 virus. Schools no longer need to worry about their students falling behind in their education or exceeding government regulated free days due to the precautions taken for their students’ health and safety. Distant learning provides a substitute to in “class learning” and furthers education advancements.

Resources such as online training can potentially increase the effectiveness in how they learn as it complies to visual, auditory, and kinetic learners. Various Specialty Colleges and Universities have already established distant learning programs that provide their students with a way to receive their degree and pursue a higher education from their home. Such programs can successfully be implemented into our schools.

California has teamed up with organizations granting millions of dollars towards school funding, but at this point in time how can we best utilize those funds to ensure that our students receive the best education that will enable them to participate higher education. The Government is starting to turn to the learning management system as they have already gifted grants to various organizations that enable them to bring distant or online training courses to some schools. Hope in higher education to advance students and create an opportunity for a greater future is a goal worth striving for.

Is an LMS the formula to the education crisis? Learn more about why a Learning Management System can help in today’s education system. Visit www.coggno.com.
