Key Design Considerations For Creating A Catalog With Contemporary Graphics

February 4th, 2010

A catalog with striking graphic design can make it a great marketing tool, which can be at times as effective as an actual sales person. A potential consumer can take his time to deliberate upon buying a specific article after having discussed with his friends and family by using it. Thus, it is very crucial that a catalog is organized and printed in the most effective and appealing way to draw a positive response from the consumers.

A catalog should always be able to emphasize the products instead of making them look overshadowed. Therefore without any compromise, you should first concentrate on the colour scheme and layout of the main graphic components so that the product images in the catalog do not look trite to the consumer. Advanced graphic design software can help you work with different colours and gradients, and their colour picker tools can help you select the colour palette that you are most comfortable working with.

The next thing to deliberate upon is how all the text will be displayed on the catalog. You can also check out the suitability and effectiveness of various fonts and colours in advance by making use of graphics tools. The text must be such that it lays out in a brief way all the best features that the products have to offer, basically driving home the point in a few words.

After the basic image and text layout is decided, one should concentrate on selectively adding good looking imagery to the catalog. Modern graphic design with sleek appearance gives the catalog a certain splendour that is required to keep the customers hooked and interested in the product. For such graphic designs, either an expert designer can be hired or if you are creative enough and have some knowledge in this area then you can create one by your self.

While incorporating the decorative elements to the catalog you can make great use of the pre designed graphics that come with the modern graphic design software. This will save you a lot of effort and will ensure good quality results.

Once the above mentioned steps are taken care of, you would need a good printing firm to print the desired number of copies of the catalog for handing out to customers. You can let a designer from the printing firm recommend some final improvements on the catalog that you have made, as an expert’s opinion always helps to improve the output. Moreover, he can also let you know if the design would come out as good as it looks on a computer monitor.

Three Effective Brochure Design Tips

January 30th, 2010

Have you ever thought that a pamphlet can be one of the most compelling of all your selling materials?

It is a simple piece of paper but the first impact that your pamphlet produces is profound. If it’s shabby and unattractive your prospect is left with the same opinion. This will slow your business growth.

Having a brochure professionally designed and printed is a key to success in a packed marketplace. Taking the time to make sure that your booklet presents all the key data in a way that is easily understood is something that only a professional can do.

If you are just starting out in business you may be tempted to do your leaflet yourself. When I first started in business I did everything myself – not a good choice. That is why it took me 12 years before I was even comparatively successful. Heed my warning – go professional from day one on your marketing materials. They are an investment and not an expense. Professionally created materials will deliver you customers and the cash flow to follow – the reason why you are in business.

A booklet has to use eye-catching design. It has to be brief in terms of the message and last but not the least, it must be successful in enticing people to make that call of action.

Here are three key design principles to follow when creating a booklet. Use them and you will see your results flow.

1. The cover:

The cover is your sales rep. Leaflets are quite inactive creatures and you are not often able to ‘walk’ individuals through your pamphlet. So you need to excite people to read further. The cover is the starting point so must be tantalizing and sharing the KEY values of WHY someone should read further. It should answer the WIFM question – What’s in it for me.

A good design company will show you at least three to four cover designs for your brochure. Analyse these designs to see which excites you the most. Ask your protagonists their impression. Does the cover answer the question WIFM? If it doesn’t energise and answer the WIFM question, then skip to another design that works or get it redesigned. Taking the time here to get it right will pay bounties later.

2. The Content:

Once they are past the front then the content has to become the sales representative. So once again, the pressure is on to be good. Do not opt for cheap inept content writers or ask the designer to write the content or worst still do it yourself. Instead make sure that a professional copywriter is doing the work. If your design company does not have a copywriter then engage one yourself.

Ensure that all the key questions that a prospective client will have about your product are answered in a way that gets them to call you for more information. Do not go into ‘overkill mode’ and flood them with too much information at this point in time. Remember the brochure’s job is to excite and get people to call you.

3. The call for action:

If your future customer has read the brochure then you have done a great job. All you need to do now is give them a compelling reason to contact you NOW.

Having things like a free call 0800 or’00 number distinctly shown (in big letters) can make a essential difference. Having an email address is a clear bonus. Make sure these two are clearly placed in large clear type.

Even give your customers a special coupon on the pamphlet or reference code can help. But above all, ensure that you add a clear call to action. One way to do this is to readdress the KEY value of your service to your prospect in a way that will get them to take action. Remember value is everything. People only purchase something that is of value to THEM.

4. The bit that got forgotten:

I did this on purpose and only said there were three points. Well the final point is the one that can get omitted. It is the ‘dummy’ one. Have you checked that you have these on your booklet:

Phone number | Fax number | Email address | Web address | Country of operation | City / area of operation | Company name | And have you proof read for typo and grammar errors?

How To Make Your Own Detailed Custom 3d Models If You Are Starting In The 3d

January 30th, 2010

Custom 3d models are in most cases not easy to make when you don’t possess the 3d skills and experience. You also have to be familiar with the required tools, including many 3d software programs and plugins and keep up with the trends in the 3d industry.

3D models are representations of real objects virtually and are generated and displayed via computer software. This means that the way you chose or require your 3d modeling services firm to display it, the interface and plugins as well as the angle are all very important because the width and depth changes depending on the point of view or camera angle that is represented.

These virtual representations start as simple meshes comprised on polygons and are later rendered via specific and powerful applications into 2D renders or images. For this step you will need very good rendering skills that can get you renders of custom 3d models that are realistic looking and highly detailed.

These 3d models initially look like wireframes comprised on points and lines. The more detailed the denser the wireframe. They are then rendered via specific software and plugins and into file formats that can be used by graphic artists for a variety of projects including avatars and environments for real life worlds, in the health care fields, including models of internal organs, simulations, and of course print materials, tutorials, games engines, etc.

Generally talented individuals make and customize 3D models enjoy spending a lot of time on the computer, pay attention to details and have artistic inclinations. However, this might not be enough when on a time crunch or in a driven business environment where cutting costs is important.

Your budget as well as the amount of time that you have available to complete the task can play a part in whether your team uses an existing and reliable 3d modeling service or invests time in learning this new skill. There are many benefits when make your own custom 3d models because you get what you need; you imagine it and create it.

The drawback of trying to make your own 3d models is that professional quality 3D models that are customized to your needs are rarely produced quickly, even by the highly skilled 3d modelers. This can mean a lot of time lost and may make this not a very good solution to pursue. However, dependable 3d modeling services will generally offer custom 3d models or customization of stock 3d models by experienced 3d modelers with faster delivery time because they specialize in just doing this and don’t have to go through the learning curve that perhaps you or your team might have to in order to achieve the same results.

The bottom line when considering on using 3d modeling services is the actual return on your investment. This is because it usually comes down to the price vs. the time that can be lost during production if you decide not to outsource your 3d needs. Another thing to take into account is that your team members or employees may not have the abilities or wish to even try to make their own 3d models.

Using 3D modeling services is common for businesses like ad agencies, medical professionals, video makers and architects due to their ability to cut down their costs and getting the custom 3d models done fast. Creating 3d models is normally just too slow and occasionally too dear compared to the cost of just getting custom 3d models.

When looking to learning new program interfaces, select the 3d modeling software carefully. Keep in mind this like easy of use, intuitive interface, features, licensing cost, plugins available, upgrades, and the king of formats and results that you can achieve. There are some open source applications available but be aware that they may lack some of the features of paid professional software, not have enough documentation or support. In fact, start slow and use tutorials that help you build straightforward and simple object and continue to each day learn more about it.

Therefore, when you get your custom 3d models made by 3d modeling services you save time and money. However, before you go ahead and get these services, consider putting a comprehensive list of the things you need. After all, the more time you put into making the decision to use the services and defining your requirements, the more satisfied you will be with the results that you will get.

You can see more examples of using existing 3d models to create high quality custom 3d models with stock 3d models from existing libraries, like FlatPyramid.com. They also offer stock 3d models and offer 3d modeling services and for this month only they have some very detailed ones available for download.

Content Management System – DotnetNuke

October 14th, 2009
by Anne Torres

Anyone who has tried DotNetNuke content management will agree that it is, by far, the best innovation in terms of website creation. Not only does it allow one to put up a good website. It also offers the administrators and the rest of the web design team a lot of freedom without having to deal with torturous web programming languages.

That’s because this type of management system has made the task a lot simpler by offering an interface that is so easy to use. Non-technical users can very well come up with a good web design just by following quick and simple instructions from installation to operation. Indeed, this technology has given businessmen more capabilities in controlling their websites because now, they have a more in-depth understanding of the processes that will be involved as they create their online presence.

It is sometimes unbelievable that an everyday user could design and create a website without knowing one web programming language. It is, of course, very much probable these days with DotNetNuke making the process so much easier. Aside from that, businessmen are going to benefit from this type of management system for the reason that it is both cost and time-efficient even as it allows for more detailed customization.

On top of that, this system does not need users any type of license, which means anyone can use it. It is an open-for-all software which can be used both privately and commercially without restrictions.

One of the most outstanding properties of this software is its flexibility through its Delete Portal feature which allows a webmaster to manage multiple websites with just one installation. That means from several portals, it is possible to maintain the different sites through centrally located portals. It is important, however, to restrict these portals to a healthy size, otherwise, it could affect performance. The system also allows restrictions on number of allowed users for each one.

DotNetNuke custom modules also makes it even easier for webmasters to run the project on per aspect basis from templates to portal options. Developers are also continually adding features to the system, thus allowing for growing functionality.

Instructions for Web Designs that Work

October 5th, 2009
by Anne Torres

There are a lot of strategies that a businessman can use to prop up his products or services. In this cyber day and age, though, it’s all about websites. And when it comes to website marketability, it can only be about web design. For this reason, every online businessman should devote a good portion of his time ensuring that his web site is handled with only the uncompromising standards of a reputable web design company such as STL Web Solutions. While it is easy to be confident about a professional designer’s capabilities, a good businessman will always want to stay on top of things beginning with a good knowledge of what makes effectual and unproductive websites.

Without a doubt, content is still the undisputed “king” and this goes for all websites ever created. Search engines love good content and no matter how effectively seemingly optimized a page is, it still won’t get a good search ranking if its content isn’t worth a read. In other words, with all other technical aspects of web design ironed it, content rules in site indexing by the search engines.

Although the more important element in qualifying good content is the quality of information it offers, the way it is visually presented also makes a lot of difference. However, dissimilar types of businesses will require different approaches to this presentation as well.

For instance, an insurance company’s site will probably fare better with Internet users if it has neutral colors with an Arial font on it. On the other hand, if you’re an talking about an advertising company’s site, bolder and more adventurous shades and fun fonts might be needed to allow the creativity to flow.

Next to content, graphics will contribute much to how a site performs with the people who will likely end up or not end up in it. Some designers tend to lose themselves in creating visual attractions for the pages they create. However, the most important factor to be considered when incorporating graphics into a page is the time it takes to download it.

Bear in mind, anything that takes too long to will probably be lost to a clickaway because Internet users usually don’t want to wait. They want their information in seconds and if a site doesn’t deliver on this, they usually move on to the next one that does. In other words, graphics may serve a site well but only when kept to a minimum number and size. But even so, the contrary may be true for certain types of sites where animation is essential such as those maintained by web design companies where the designers’ skills are actually being marketed.

Website Design – The Importance Of SEO

October 5th, 2009
by Mark Walters

It is wrong to think that making a website is just a case of putting together some text and pictures, getting it online, and then sitting back as the money rolls in.

If generating sales is the aim of your website then you will need to think about more than just the look of it.

After finding a company to host you website, you will be able to view it online, but only by typing the web address directly into a web browser. This is no good, unless your website is found and indexed by the various search engines, you will not get any visitors to it.

So, to have your website be indexed by Google, Yahoo and Bing, what do you need to do?

When you write your website, keep in mind the keywords that potential customers will type in to find you. Make your website URL includes these keywords if possible. Here’s a great example – http://CorkWebsiteDesign.net – You will see it’s target market is website design within the Cork area.

You should also make use of your chosen keywords in the title and header of each page of your website. As an additional measure, your site text in general should include your keywords throughout. Try to use them at the start, middle and end, of each of your site’s pages. The point of this is that it makes it easier for search engines to work out what your website is about. The more they know about this, the more favourably they will rank your website in their search results..

Did you notice how that website design incorporates regionalism? By adding a location to the keyword you instantly remove the vast amount of competing websites as your competition. By narrowing your niche you reduce your market, you make sure you target exactly the people you need to.

The next trick is “back linking,” and as you will find, no matter how good your website is it must first must be found by Google and the other SERP’s before it can be ranked. Your website will be ranked according to how accurately you have performed your SEO and the amount of sites that are linking to yours. The aim here is to get as many other websites to link to yours as possible. The more successful you are in achieving this, the better the ranking of your website will be.

So, those are the main points you need to think about if you want your website to not only look good, but to perform well too.

You can always consult with a specialist SEO company if you would like further help with anything else SEO related.

Has Anyone Been Able To Find Good Website Teachers?

September 30th, 2009
by Mike Adams

Website teachers abound on the Internet, but the really good ones are very hard to find.

Maybe it’s just me, but finding someone who can teach a person with few computer skills to build websites has been very difficult.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I strived for months to get into Internet marketing. I knew I would need knowledge of how to build websites, but I got very frustrated in trying to find someone who could teach to a total newbie.

It seems as though I joined or bought dozens of teaching courses that had all the right promises going in, but eventually didn’t deliver.

I fully admit I was the typical newbie. My previous triumphs on a computer were typing letters, sending emails and surfing the Net. All the techie stuff that was being thrown at me by most of the teaching courses just flew over my head. I had no idea what they were talking about after a point. I was getting depressed by it all.

The website teachers I found were mostly young people who had been around computers all their lives and I guess assumed everyone knew what they did. For this newbie, that was certainly not the case. I was behind before I even started.

It seemed to be a point of pride with several of the website teachers and programs I signed up for to avoid basic skill-set terms. It was like they thought doing so would be a waste of their valuable time or they were so aloof that they really didn’t care to bother with it.

There seemed to be an ego attribute to some of the instructors. One even called himself the “newbie guru”.

In discussion with a student who was trying to help him understand that he could be much more effective if he’d tone down his high-minded method of teaching by speaking in plain English, he had the following to say:

“Don’t you tell me what the average Internet newbie needs. I OWN the newbies! I am a newbie God!”

That’s the attitude I’m talking about that some website teachers have about those trying to break into the Internet world. Who needs that?

The student who got the tongue-lashing was said to have keep his cool, but made up his mind right then and there to create a course of his own as soon as he could to cater to all the Internet newbies in the world that he could sense were there.

The fates must have been in my favor earlier this year, because just at the point when I was considering chucking the whole Internet thing, I met that former student. He had just launched his new course a few months earlier and hundreds were signing up just like he predicted.

Life became good again as I was now on a quick path to learning all about building and managing websites from the ground up. The one-time student who had turned into one of the best website teachers on the Internet had done a superior job of creating the school of his dreams. And now thousands of others will benefit!

High Quality Websites: Your Business Can Have One

September 28th, 2009
by Chris Marks

Those that have put up their own website have also probably beforehand searched the internet and found some high quality websites that caught their attention. Websites that are considered to be of high quality have that honor because of their great design execution or content and in some cases a high quality website has both. It is only logical that if you are attracted to a particular site then other visitors will be too and that means a lot of traffic for that site on a daily basis.

Just think about what it would mean if your own business website was that good and attracted so many. You should first just check out your website that is already online and with a neutral opinion just take a look at it and determine whether or not it would belong among the ranks of a high quality website.

Start with the Minimum

Many of the nicest websites around are surprisingly minimalistic in design and content. Minimal websites are highly advantageous in many ways with one of the obvious advantages of them loading faster than the rest even for users with slow connections. Secondly, minimal websites usually focus on high contrast allowing important content to be seen without too many distractions. Check out the many Web 2.0 sites that are online for inspiration and notice how important text gets more emphasis with bigger font sizes and only significant images are being placed without going extreme.

Stick to your Company Theme

If you find a certain website to be inspiring, then you will have the urge to copy it and use it for your own website. That is not a good idea since your website will have to represent your business and not just look good. Therefore, it is important to keep with your company’s own theme and not with someone else’s. You can do this by setting up rules that will govern which colors can be used and what kinds of images are suitable. This is a simple way to also make sure that your website is unique and not just a copy of another high quality website.

Make it Interactive

A good website will have an appealing look, but a high quality website is capable of letting visitors become a part of the overall experience. Some of the basic interactive forms include the possibility for visitors to post their comments. Another way to get a good start to your business and making a website interactive is to add a blog. As the traffic to your website increases, so should the possibilities to interact with the website.

Regularly Update

After your website has become popular due to the improvements made to it, then you will have to keep that up by regularly adding updates to your site. The design doesn’t necessarily have to be improved upon, but you will have to keep updating your contents. This has to be done, because high quality websites have visitors that keep returning and who expect to see updates every once in a while.

These four steps to making a good website can also be repeated should you ever get the feeling that your website is not longer as appealing to visitors. Just make sure that you actively are involved with your website projects and then your site will always be thought of as one of the high quality websites.

All About Web Design Strategies And Dotnetnuke Module Development

September 25th, 2009
by Anne Torres

One of the most well-liked hobby these days is web design both in business and industry in total. As a matter of fact, it has been established that web design is very crucial in the victory of a business most chiefly for businesses that depend on the internet for their sales and profits. These creations are, of course, important in making websites successful as well. Aside from providing information, they can also be used to advertise a company and its goods and services.

One of the businesses that capitalize on the internet are the home based businesses or stores. Having your website is very important and having an online business is just one of the situations wherein hiring a professional is important. These are just some of the reasons why in order to make a website successful, the design must be strategically designed and professional-looking. This is achieved with st. louis web development.

Web designing is an activity that entails a lot of imagination by the designer and the pros at st. louis web design are well aware of this. The more unique the design is, the better because the more it will catch people’s attention and probably make them stay long enough to be interested. However, there is the danger of too much artistry. When a design is not created in balance with practicality, it tends to simply be a work of art that may not be very useful when it comes to business. That’s why designing a website for a business also needs the artist to consider very basic rules in order for the site to be successful in converting visits to actual sales. This is exceptionally achieved through the dotnetnuke design strategy.

You have to make sure that the whole concept is unique and you have to ensure that the letters or the fonts that were used must be large enough to make sure that they stand out from the background. They must also be large enough to make it easier for visitors to read them. The content is still, of course, the most important element of the design. Information must be presented in a beguiling, sensible and organized manner so that people know where to find the information they need and in fact recognize and be persuaded by what they end up finding.

It is a proven fact that images make customers more interested but you have to make sure that these images are well presented and well laid out and that these images are relevant. Navigation must be easy for visitors to follow, otherwise, the risk of losing them to click-aways is great. Color coordination of links must also be ensured to increase the level of ease of visitors while exploring the site.

Of course, browser compatibility is an essential element of a good web page. No matter how visually appealing it is, it is useless if it does not load in a lot of people’s browsers. After all, the purpose of a web site is to get a product or service out to the people. If access is limited, so is success, if it’s even possible.
