Do You Want Good Traffic and Profitable Keywords Quickly?

August 18th, 2009
by Daniel McGonagle

You hear about people making money online but a lot of affiliate marketers work part-time. Why? Well, most of them are too busy to devote enough time to generate substantial traffic to their websites. If they had more good quality traffic their income could increase for their affiliate marketing. The truth is that it takes real time to build that traffic for many reasons.

To be a smart marketer and work less but achieve more, you must focus on profitable keywords. Those keywords that will be worth your effort to rank well for. Many traffic-generation products’ sales pages promise you thousands of targeted visitors within a few days. However, the reality of targeted traffic is that you don’t know what kind of keywords you want to target immediately. You need to do some testing to see which keywords are the most profitable.

Experienced marketers will focus on ranking well for the more profitable keywords first. What most marketers do is create a list of keywords for their site to target. Then every post and every article will include one or more of these keywords. That checklist becomes the guide for building site content. Nonetheless, it takes time to discover which keywords are truly most profitable.

There are 2 ways to discover your profitable keywords and one is free and the other one costs money. The free methods requires installing tracking software on your site to see which keyword searches that brought people to your site ended up converting into sales. The paid method involves using pay-per-click advertising to quickly determine which keywords are most profitable.

One method that I have observed is affiliates who dive into a new niche market and set up some pay-per-click advertising to quickly find out what the profitable keywords are. After a few hundred dollars of advertising these marketers know for sure which keywords are most profitable, then they start building site content focusing on those keywords. This also can tell you how much traffic to expect from searches for those keywords. If you set up your pay-per-click advertising to display every time the word is searched, that is one view you will see in your AdWords statistics. That way you’ll know how much realistic traffic to expect from Google.

There’s a less complex method for generating traffic that combines the power of pay-per-click traffic and writing tons of on site content for high rankings. The method is called article marketing and it brings in immediate traffic while also causing the secondary benefit of linkbuilding to achieve high rankings for your sites. How exactly is article marketing a combination of PPC traffic and natural, organic traffic?

Well, when you write an article and get it syndicated to thousands of sites using Unique Article Wizard, you will see an immediate traffic surge for a few days or weeks just form one article. Depending on what your article was about and what the anchor text your hyperlink-ed article was, you now are starting to see what keywords are converting well. Until the time comes when your sites are ranking well for those terms, people will be finding your syndicated articles on other people’s sites and on article directories right away and that’s how article syndication is almost just as good as having your sites all ranking well for your profitable keywords. Article marketing is the most effective way to discover profitable keywords for free by getting immediate targeted traffic and having article syndication build up your site’s rankings.

Discover how to make money before, during and after you’ve submitted your articles with Daniel McGonagle’s Unique Article Wizard newsletter.

Link Popularity Service -Some Valuable Facts!

August 8th, 2009
by Otto Matthews

The search engines look very favorably on websites that have an incoming link from a prominent website, where that website does not link back to the other site (This is not surprisingly called a one way link).

It’s also known more commonly as a backlink.

The search engines as a rule give less importance to a website involved in two way linking (where both websites link to each other) since this has been abused so much in the past by webmasters seeking to achieve high search engine rankings.

There is still a benefit with two way links especially if you are linking to a prominent site so if your only choice to link to a prominent website is by linking back to them from your website, by all means do it.

Remember if you can get them to link back to you only (one way link) it will be more beneficial to your ranking in the search engines.

Remember that the website you are linking to (or getting one way links from) should have content related to the content on your website.

One way links are far and away the best way to boost your rankings in the search engines, ultimately bringing you more traffic as more people find your website in the search engine results.

The more “important” (from the point of view of the search engines) the site that is linking to you is, the better it is, and this is what separates the boys from the men in relation to search engine rankings.

When considering finding out more about check google backlinks ; it pays to do a little research first as a further way to move forward fast!. Watch the sharks out there!

One good way to get the ball rolling is to submit articles to article directories (see the Articles Directory article for specific information).

The main thing here is to make sure the article directory you are submitting has itself got a good page ranking with Google.

It’s very important to ensure that your one-way links have related content to your site.

Even when it is coming from a high ranking page, if your incoming link is from a website selling flowers, and your selling cars on your site, it’s unlikely to benefit you much.

If though your site was about tires for cars then the link would be far more likely to be a benefit for you in search engine rankings.

The more one-way links you can get from relevant, trusted (in the eyes of the search engines) and quality content sites the better. Remember that a single quality one way link will probably provide more of a benefit to your website than be 20-30 low quality links (un-trusted, sub-quality, not entirely relevant content to your website, or combination’s of these problems).

The other thing you will definitely want to do is to mix-up your anchor text from these one-way links (Anchor text is the text shown on screen for a link to your website).

Wherever possible you will want to try and control what is in the anchor text on these sites (obviously this will not be possible some times because it’s not your website, however I’ve found many web masters are happy to help).

You definitely don’t want to have the same anchor text for many incoming links from many websites as this can set a red flag to the search engines, who may well rate your website less importance because they believe you may be manipulating the results (I’m not saying that the anchor text for every one way link needs to be unique, just that you should ensure you have a number of combination’s of them in use).

You want to have your best keyword phrases in use with your incoming links, but use a lot of variation and even just some regular links (just your domain name in the anchor text) will help keeping things natural.

The other thing you want to do is be sure to not always link to your root directory of your website, but rather directly to articles, etc. This allows your incoming link to be targeted for a particular page.

For example I have submitted articles to various article directories that are a subset of a more comprehensive article.

In this case I’ve chosen to link from the article directory direct to the more comprehensive article on my website.

I’ve also ensured that the article is not just a duplicate, since search engines dislike duplicate content and will mark down your websites importance if duplicate content is found.

Of course one way links to your website will not only boost your website’s search engine rankings, but it will also bring traffic to your site.

Start slowly and build up the links over time, you will find your likely to get far better results doing it this way, and that it’s also more likely that your great search engine rankings are likely to “stick” in the future.

Dying Linkbuilding Services?

July 18th, 2009
by Daniel McGonagle

Once upon a time, you could only get worthwhile backlinks by hiring an SEO firm. No More. Today you can generate good backlinks easily if you know how. This probably does have some impact on the big expensive SEO companies and Linkbuilding Services. However, they still charge 4 figures a month for these services and people still pay the fees.

Here are some reasons why you don’t need to hire an expensive linkbuilding service or SEO firm. Some of these reasons and methods may still require outsourcing if your budget allows for that, but they can all be done manually too. Once you see what’s available to you for cheaper yet still effective services, you’ll never think of hiring a firm to handle your search engine optimization for you ever again.

Since the Internet always changes, search engines also constantly change their algorithms and formulas for ranking sites well. It is in their best business interest to do that. As they change the rules you need to stay abreast of these rules in order to stay competitively ranked. The top SEO firms arewell aware of these changes. The way you keep tuned in to the changes either by doing it yourself or hiring someone in your company who does just that. The two most important factors for ranking well in the search engines are off-page and on-page optimization (So what else could there be?).

On-page optimization is becoming increasingly important since Latent Semantic Indexing and silo site structure site design are becoming increasingly more important factors in your rankings efforts. Latent Semantic Indexing, or LSI is a fancy term that really just means your sites will rank well if your site content is using the terms most often, or most commonly associated with that topic. Silo site structures design basically means organizing your sites in a way that rewards the human visitors and readers with an easy to navigate site. Employing these 2 tactics is just plain solid SEO and practicing it means you’ll need less backlinks to rank well for your chosen terms.

You can use a low-cost link building service to generate backlinks from relevant sites and the number of backlinks you get can be in the thousands to help you with off-page optimization. There are a lot of these types of services out there now and they build backlinks for you effectively at a far lower cost. The only problem here is the size of their network limits your potential and they get “tapped out” after a while. So to keep getting results you need to get a new service aver 6 months. When you put what you saved into hiring writers and a site designer, you will begin to see your Return on Investment (ROI) start looking good a lot sooner.

When you are the only person on your staff, you need to see a fast return on your expenses. This is true if you are responsible for expanding your company’s offline presence onto the web also. What is the best strategy for doing that? Keep your fingers “in the pie”. Stay involved and maintain control over your search engine optimization efforts. This is also a great way to teach yourself what is actually working. This isan important skill that all companies need to stay competitive. Sole proprietors really need to see income being produced from their search engine optimization work.

Look in marketing forums for advice on linkbuilding services that work well yet cost less than the high end services. They can give you good quality backlinks in their own way for a lot less investment of your time and money. For example, Backlink Solutions has a very large network where you can benefit from fine quality backlinks. In today”s economic climate, every business needs to do more with less time and less expense involved.

No more can you afford to pour money into SEO firms just to “expand the brand” for your companies and businesses. Now many companies are utilizing their employees in many different ways. Multi-tasking and getting your employees involved with web exposure is a great way to do more with the same amount of employees. Coach some of your employees to get them to submit informative articles or posts about your niche to Backlink Solutions . That is one way you can expect to increase web exposure for your company.

Backlinks – What They Are and How to Get Them

May 4th, 2009
by Brent Sweet

Sometimes called inbound links, backlinks are the lifeblood of Search Engine Positioning. In order for a website to be on the top of search engines like Google without the webmaster having to pay big money for advertising, the website has to have a large number of backlinks. Backlinks are links on one website that lead back to another website. The more established, high quality, and high Page Rank the website that contains the link has, the more power it has to help the linked website with its search engine position. If the website that is getting backlinks gets many High Quality and High Page Rank backlinks, the better the chance it has of being in a high position on the Search Engines.

How does a webmaster go about getting high quality backlinks to his or her website? There are many ways this can be done. Some people advocate writing and submitting articles, posting on forums, making comments on blogs. Others talk about submitting their website to various Internet directories. One directory that has an excellent reputation is called DMOZ, or the “Open Directory”. This directory is probably the most respected directory online today. The websites it contains have all been placed there by human editors; there is no “automation” to this directory. The only drawback that’s been discussed about this directory is that it takes so long to have a website included.

Another way that many people build backlinks for their website is to use Social Bookmarking websites. A “Social Bookmark” is a website that usually has a very popular ‘community’ aspect to it. Users sign up and create profiles on the sites that contain photos and information about themselves. They then can save “bookmarks” of favorite websites which can be itemized by ‘tags’, which are one or two word descriptions of what the sites contain, and these bookmarks can be saved to a list that’s private or can be listed publicly, so that everybody can see it.

With the advent of what is known as Web 2.0, gaining backlinks is easier now than in any time in the history of the internet. Most sites now have an “interactive” quality to them nowadays. Readers can often sign in and create profiles. They then are often allowed to post comments on the stories or articles on the website or blog. In many cases, the website or blog owner responds to these comments; thus making this section of the website or blog a conversation.

Backlinking strategies can be easy and fun and the website owner who is working on getting more backlinks for his website can learn new things, meet new people, and have a tremendous amount of fun doing something that was once a chore: building backlinks.

Top 5 Mistakes Made in Search Submission SEO

May 4th, 2009
by Brent Sweet

Mistake #1 Not checking that their site is search engine friendly before submitting make sure that your pages all have:

appropriate and descriptive titles, good copy that is written for people and not search engines, made sure that all of the pages in the site can be accessed by the search engine, e.g. don’t use Flash or JavaScript as the only way to navigate between pages in the website

Mistake #2 Not having effective links from other websites before submitting

Search engines make significant use of links between websites to evaluate the quality of the content of the site. Obtaining links from other websites can be a time consuming process. It is recommended that you implement a system that involves these stages:

Locating relevant websites and assessing their suitability to obtain links to your site Write to the owners of these sites with an offer to exchange links. It is wise to have already added the link to their website first and draw their attention to this. Follow up in 14 days if you have not heard back from the site owner, and Drop their site from your links page if you have not heard back in 30 days

Mistake #3 Not having a system to monitor when search engines are updating their databases

If your site is larger than just a few pages, there is a good chance that your site will not have every page on it included in every search engine’s database. Additionally you should identify how frequently your site is being updated in the search engine. If you have added new content to your website or have changed the existing content, it can take a month or so for this to be reflected in the database of the search engines. Once your site has a higher credibility in the search engines this will occur more frequently.

Mistake #4 Not testing the keywords, copy and headlines of the web pages

All major search engines now offer some form of paid placement advertising. This is a useful tool to testing which keywords and advertising copy works best to attract sales. The key advantage of using paid placement advertising is that a large number of tests can be conducted in a relatively short period of time to determine the best combination of keywords, offer, headlines, copy, etc that suit your site.

Only after you have identified which particular keywords are suitable for optimizing pages on your site should you then start to fine tune your web pages to rank highly against these keywords. You should also test headlines in your advertisements and these headlines be added to the titles of your web pages.

Mistake #5 Not having a system to monitor and measure the effectiveness of their search engine listings and website

Search engine marketing is a continuous process that involves far more than simply obtaining high ranking positions. You need to constantly monitor how many people visit your website from search engines, what keywords they are using, how many of them convert into a sale or sales lead, etc. The secret to success is test, test, test and test again.

Optimizing Traffic from Article Directories

April 30th, 2009
by Jessica Matias

SEO-optimized articles have been gaining more and more popularity as time goes by. In fact, some people say that if you want the most business online, you have to submit articles for traffic. Most people, in fact, pay to get traffic from article directories.

A lot of people out there have the passion, but not the time to fill up their site with content and these people end up trolling the internet for free articles to put on their site. Doing it yourself works on a very simple level. Write an article, make it good and make it informative. Put all the bells and whistles on your article. Put some real effort into it and when you’re done, you don’t wait.

Instead of having to rely on someone else to take the article from you, why don’t you submit the article yourself to a website called the article directory? That will reward you with something valuable: a link back to your site.

You see, these free article directories where you can submit articles for traffic are directories that require you to put up two things – your name and almost more importantly, that ever valuable link to your site. That’s how you get traffic from article directories. When people look for certain keywords on a search engine, they’ll find that article, find that link and then, find your site.

Linking to them is not absolutely necessary – you just need that one opportunity to your site. Search engines find those backlinks adorable. They are the means by which a search engine can assess whether or not you are an authority on a given topic or keyword. Numerous backlinks to your site raise your importance and increase the chances that your site will be displayed on the front page of the search results.

That’s traffic being generated to your site, the valuable hits that could maximize your profitability, if that’s your goal. Unlike sowing a seed or teaching your dog a command, this doesn’t take months to do. After you submit your article to an article directory, your link is already available to the search engine and you can get traffic within a few hours of submission. That’s just mere hours, thanks to the internet.

You do have to make sure that your article is of fantastic and competitive quality. It must be directly related to the content you have on your site. After all, you want people interested in the content of your site to be going there and the best way to do that is to have an article related to it. Otherwise, you may just be confusing your audience, a prospect that isn’t that profitable.

The internet is becoming a popular foundation for starting businesses, which is vital in any economy, not just the current one. With a reach that spans the globe, you practically owe it to your business to get traffic from article directories. Submit articles for traffic and you’ll find your site with more business than it used to. It doesn’t guarantee success, but it definitely boosts the chances.

Making “Friends” With The Competition is Good SEO

April 27th, 2009
by Brent Sweet

Before you start creating your own business blog it doesn’t hurt to check out what the competition is doing. This is not only a form of market research that allows you to see what readers might be interested in, it is also a way of preventing yourself from making the same mistakes as your competitor.

However the main reason to check out your competitor’s site is to see if you are mining from the same informational sources. It is a good idea to make your content as different from your competition’s as possible and to take cues from what your competitor is doing that works to make your own blog more successful.

A competition’s blog can also be a valuable source of PR for you. Every time you enter a comment on your competitor’s blog you can add a link back to your blogging site. This ensures that you are placing yet another link to your blog in a place where it is sure to be appreciated by interested visitors.

Bloggers love comments because readers who are engaged in a discussion in the comments section will return to a page again and again. Some popular blogs have hundreds of comments on some entries, and for every commenter you can be sure there are dozens who are following along but who do not care for whatever reason to get involved in the discussion. Comment areas will usually allow you to enter your email address and blog address in addition to your name, so for every comment you make, you’re insuring that another link to your blog is placed in front of people who might be interested in what you have to say.

However before you leave any kind of spam or negative commentary remember that your competitor may do the same to you on your blog. Ultimately this just makes both blog businesses look bad.

When You Start a Home Based Business Go For Backlinks

April 26th, 2009
by Brent Sweet

The Internet continues to be an unbelievable medium for home based business owners. There is so much money to be made online that you have no one to blame but yourself if you are not currently making money.

If you are new to starting a home based business than there is one main important point you need to keep in mind!

One thing that has not changed since the start of Internet marketing is the importance of getting links pointing back to your site. When you start a home based business if you would spend the majority of your time trying to get your website on somebody else’s website you will be amazed at how far your business advances down the road.

The primary thing to keep in mind about getting your link on somebody else’s site is to go for keyword relevancy. If you have a website that is built around the theme of cooking it makes sense for your website address to show up on the other similar websites.

What does not make sense is for a cooking website to get a link from a fishing website for example. This is where reciprocal linking really does not do you much good unless you are trading links with websites that relate to each other in some way.

One other important point to remember is trying get as many one way links pointing back to your site as possible. This is a very simple way to increase your traffic and to keep it on your site longer.

You might even go so far as to have all of the links on your website only point to other pages of your own. This way if a person leaves your website via a link you are sending them to another web page of yours.

Getting one way back links is really not that hard to do. Here are a few ideas of how you could do it.

1. Blog and social bookmark your blog posts.

2. Submit articles to article directories.

3. Post comments on other people’s blogs

4. Buy text link ads.

5. Place ezine ads in newsletters

6. Participate in discussion forums and set up your own signature file.

We could write a separate article just on ways to get links pointing back to your site. These are just a few simple ones that you can do starting today.

The key thing is that you are driving traffic to your new home based business and using back links to get the job done.

Should You Buy Text Links?

April 26th, 2009
by Brent Sweet

Many Webmasters buy text links because they need results as quickly as possible. Building the popularity of your website can be a time-consuming and demanding job. You start by building up your content – you buy (or create) some quality articles or information to post to your website. You make sure your web pages look professional and appealing. Then for months no one wants to link to your website and you see no growth in your site’s popularity. Without links your page rank remains stagnant and you don’t see your web site gaining a top spot in search engine results.

Well, now is the time to build relationships with other sites. It’s time to work on link exchanges and on link popularity. The truth is that this can be even more time-consuming than building content…

Buy Text Links

Yes you can buy text links as an alternative to the other, slow growth linking strategies. The process of building links through trading and asking for one way links can be long and frustrating. That’s why many webmasters try an easier way – they buy text links.

Well, not any text link of course – purchased text links should be on sites that have themes that are complimentary to yours. Google and other search engines tend to compare content when calculate a site’s page rank. Placing a link to your site from so-called Link Farms usually leads to a disaster.

Link Farms specialize in linking anyone to anyone. Most search engines either ignore those links or penalize you if you have many from link farms.

If you buy carefully chosen text links from a specialized company you often can quickly increase your site’s page rank, this can give your site the edge you need. Almost every company that offer text links for sale has an expert that will help you to choose the best text link to buy,

Buy Text Links Carefully

The choice isn’t easy. Most web and marketing experts will say that faster popularity is better even if you have to buy it, and usually they are right. The quick boost to your site’s ranking on search engines is a good thing, but remember – do not build your page rank based solely on purchased text links.

Spend time each month on conventional link build strategies and buy text links only additional support. The search engines are learning how to distinguish purchased text from natural links. If you have too many purchased links your pages could disappear one day.

Having good, honest links from content-connected sites can be the best way to build your site’s traffic, even if it won’t raise your page rank as quickly as purchased text links.

If you are developing a web site for long term profits start with a practical link building program like article submission. Then carefully add a few well chosen paid links. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
