Enhance Your Bathroom Remodeling Project Using a Luxury Bath

July 23rd, 2009

There are many different types of baths that you can put in your bathroom. There are the deep baths which will give a number of benefits which you often do not find in most other types of baths. A lot of these benefits will improve your bathing experience and give you years of satisfaction.

The deep bathtub is ideal if you want to take a nice hot bath and get completely soaked without having water running over the sides and wetting the floor. They normally come in the usual standard lengths and widths although it is quite possible to buy one in a smaller length to fit into smaller bathrooms.

A lavish and extravagant addition to almost any bathroom is the corner bath. A new variation on this is the playa bath which is more commonly known as a sit bath. They come in a variety of sizes, with the standard being about 380mm which can go up to a whopping 1200mm in depth.

A lot of people absolutely love nothing more than coming home after a tough day at work and then relaxing and sinking into a deep warm, cozy bath with all the aromatherapy oils to relax the aching muscles and aching body.

Although, at first glance you may think that these luxurious baths are on the expensive side, most people would agree that they are worth every cent in the benefits they get from really relaxing the mind and body. Although they may be over your budget a little, they will leave your bathroom looking much more extravagant, akin to a five star hotel and may even add value to your house.

If you really want to spend a little more then it is worth looking into purchasing a model like a Shires-Largo double ended bath that will really improve the look of your room and give you years of endless enjoyment.

If you like to entertain, such as having barbecues or parties or just relaxing by yourself and watching a movie or sports game with a glass of champagne, then the ultimate in luxury is the spa type bath. This will require more space and are designed usually to fit up to four people in. Many people, in fact, install one of these types of bath outdoors.

The more luxurious baths are definitely worth considering if you are embarking on remodeling or building a new bathroom. They are perfect for relaxing, spending a romantic evening with your partner or entertaining a group of friends. Whatever you choose it will be a good investment.

Learn to DIY with Small Projects

July 13th, 2009
by Adam Peters

If you are like the rest of us, some of your home improvement projects worked out exactly as planned, and others, well..we’d just as soon forget about. But it is still worth while to try and do these projects yourself because of the inflated prices home improvement contractors charge. But let’s face it, if it needs more than glue and duct tape to get it done, it is not going to be easy.

One of the easiest rooms to practice your DIY skills on is the bathroom, and if you plan well and take the proper time and care, it can be a project you can be proud of.

One of the main reasons renovating a bathroom is so easy is because the bathroom is usually the smallest room in the house. Just by the size qualification, it means less area to paint, wallpaper or hang shelves and other things on. Many times, you can create a whole new bathroom just by putting up new tiles and adding a new toilet and sink. If one of your issues with the bathroom is its size in the first place, this might even be a good time to learn how to expand a room. You may get away with just breaking into the closet next to it and this is a great way to get extra space without a major overhaul.

If you have the time, patience and funds to do it, you may want to completely renovate your bathroom, which involves stripping all of the existing items from it, including existing tiles, fixtures, wallpaper and flooring. This will allow you to lay out the room exactly the way you want it to be. This kind of a project really just requires brute force, not a lot of skill. If you don’t want to do it yourself, you may find a demolition contractor who will just do the tear down part. A better solution is to get some buddies you know to do it. There is nothing most guys like better than tearing things down. Just keep your hand in it so they do not get too carried away. Renovating your bath can turn out to be a great learning experience to use on future projects, so don’t be afraid to step outside the box and try new things to achieve your goal.

The best way to learn is to do, but you should also read and research the latest methods in renovation. Learning to use power tools will be a great boon to the project, and they are usually very easy to use since today’s safety regulations make them so safe. If you understand the basic concepts of construction, you will be able to tear down the bathroom and start from scratch.

You may have big dreams about the bathroom, but you also have to be practical and make sure you can achieve your dreams within your budget. Price out the main items such as the fixtures, lighting and furnishings. Once you have the most expensive items covered, you can allocate funds for the decorating items according to the style you want to achieve.

Be practical and realistic; this is not a project you are going to be able to do overnight or even over the weekend. Don’t forget, we have decided we are not going to use a professional crew who can come in and knock it off quickly. If, like the rest of us, you have a day job, you will have to squeeze the work in during the evenings and on the weekend.

Just give yourself time and be encouraged by the fact that you will have a lovely bathroom soon, all due to your own work and ideas.
