June 23rd, 2009
by Alan Plastin

With so much emphasis on taking care of our earth these days, we are always on the lookout for little ways to make a difference. Something that may not readily pop into mind is ordering recycled personal checks. We all need checks. But by purchasing personal checks we take care of that necessity while also taking care of our environment.

There are three companies in particular that produce their printed and themed checks on recycled paper. These checks are printed on recycled paper with 20% post-consumer fibre which is the highest that can be created through modern technology today. Not only this, but these environmentally friendly companies also use vegetable based ink which are both biodegradable and toxic free, two features which can be appreciated by all consumers today.

The Check Gallery is the country’s most popular recycled check printer. They have gained popularity as being a great choice for ordering environmentally-friendly checks due to their fairly large selection of check designs. Whether you prefer wildlife-inspired designs, nature scenes, cartoons, or something more traditional, The Check Gallery is a good place to start in looking for unique recycled checks.

An additional recycled check printer is Classic Checks. You can find a good deal of environmental themed checks within this company. While the design selection is fairly small, many of the check designs Classic Checks offers benefits charitable causes, like the National Wildlife Federation, National Breast Cancer Foundation and Audubon Birds. So not only will you be doing the earth some good through your order, but you can support a worthy institution at the same time.

Rounding out our top three earth friendly check printers is Message!Products. Similar to Classic Checks, Message!Products produces checks that benefit various animal, environmental and social foundations with each order. They offer a wide, yet very specific, selection of designs featuring notable organizations such as Sierra Club, PETA and Amnesty International.

So, you want to do your part by ordering recycled personal checks but you’re thinking that the cost must be significant because of the extra special processing involved. Think again! You may be surprised to learn that when compared with ordering checks from your bank, these three companies feature prices that can save you up to 50% off.

First-time customers in particular can save a lot of money. There are numerous coupons to be found out there for each of these recycled check companies. Some many offer a multi-box discount, while others are good for free shipping.

With so much focus upon the fate of our environment and world as a whole today even doing what you can in a small way like buying recycled personal checks can make a difference if everyone makes this wise choice. Get rid of those expensive and boring bank checks and start writing checks that match your personality today!

Get a sparkling clean home using cheap non-toxic regular household items to make your own child-safe cleaning solutions.

Tile, Counter Tops & Toilet Bowl Cleaner – Mix baking soda and water together until you form a paste with a similar consistency as soft toothpaste.

Shower Doors – If your glass doors are covered with scum, wipe them down with lemon oil. As a preventative measure, you can use a few drops of lemon oil on them once or twice a month.

Shower Heads – If you shower heads have mineral deposits, put vinegar in a plastic bag and attach the bag to your shower head using a rubber band. You essentially want the showerhead to be immersed in vinegar overnight. Then rinse with water in the morning and they will be mineral deposit free and sparkling clean!

Window’s & Mirrors – Fill a spray bottle with Club Soda. Spray down your glass and mirrors then immediately wipe off the solution using newspaper.

Unclogging Drains – Pour equal amounts of salt and baking soda down your drain. Run hot water for a couple of minutes. This will work great if your drain is clogged due to oil or grease. If your drain is clogged for any other reason, such as hair, this solution probably won’t work for you.

Faucets with Lime Scale – Rub with lemon juice and let it sit overnight. In the morning, wipe with a damp cloth.

Stainless Steel Sinks, Fixtures and Appliances – Dilute one part rubbing alcohol with two parts water. Put mixture into a spray bottle, spray mixture onto a soft cotton cloth.

Hardwood Floors – Mix 1 part distilled white vinegar and 2 parts water. Vinegar disinfects and picks up dust.

Scuffed Floors – Apply 2-4 drops of tea tree oil to the scuff. Wipe off the excess oil with a soft cloth. Take a clean soft cloth and rub in white distilled vinegar.

Wood Furniture – Polish and protect your furniture by combining 2 cups olive oil or vegetable oil with the juice from 1 lemon. Rub it on your furniture with a soft cloth.

Glassware – To make your glassware sparkle, pre-rinse with vinegar then rinse again with water.

Vehicle – To clean your car, mix 1/4 cup of liquid Castile Soap with a full bucket of hot water. You can use it to clean your car’s exterior, windshield, hubcaps and tires. Use a clean soft sponge and thoroughly hose it off when you’re finished washing.

Garage Floor – To remove oil stains and get your garage floor looking like new, cover oil spots with baking soda and sprinkle with water until a paste forms. Let the paste stand overnight. Then scrub with a damp brush, rinse and wipe clean.
