Director of The Original Splatter Film (Blood Feast- 1963) To Release New Film

October 11th, 2009
by Thomas Lloyd

Any true slasher movie buff knows the legendary director, Herschell Gordon Lewis. Also known as “The Godfather of Gore,” Lewis has written and directed more than 30, B-list films over his long career. Most of his films were made between 1963 and 1979.

Then he seemingly disappeared from the world of gore films. For 30 years, he built his reputation as an advertising man and today he is considered one of the world’s leading authorities on direct response advertising, making more money a year than many of his films have grossed in their lifetime.

But even after his long absense, the infamous gore director has kept his love for film-making. The carnage-craving director can’t stay away any longer. “Making movies is like Malaria” he says. “It gets in your blood and stays there.”

His latest film “The Uh-Oh Show,” currently in post production is tentatively scheduled for release early in 2010. It’s about a hit game show where contestants win a lifetime of wealth if they answer the questions correctly… but if they answer wrong they get their limbs hacked off with a variety of intimidating devices.

This movie could only come from the twisted mind of Herschell Gordon Lewis

Recently, Herschell Gordon Lewis has become more mainstream, with a reverent reference in the award winning movie, “Juno.” But his films themselves are anything but mainstream.

“The Uh-Oh Show will, I think, mark a change in the direction of this kind of movie,” Lewis says. “Of late, a lot of these movies are derivative. You think you’re seeing the same movie over and over again. I don’t think they’re going to think that when they see The Uh-Oh Show! We mix outrageous splatter effects with hot humor so everyone knows immediately that it’s just a gag.”

Lewis’s films defy all generation gaps. The reactions are the same, regardless of age. Either audiences love it and find it disturbingly hilarious… or they think he should be in jail.

The Uh-Oh Show! is scheduled for film festival releases in December of 2009 and on DVD early in 2010.

OLED Television

October 6th, 2009
by Jean Bowie

Recently we have seen the dominance of plasma and LCD TV and displays in the home entertainment and computer markets, and more recently we saw LED TVs and displays. But newly emerging on the scene is OLED television and displays with Sony leading the way.

The OLED television is something that is definitely recommended for any household. Think of a television that is completely flexible, no more than a few ounces in weight, and about as thin as a piece of cardboard. This new device has been put under the most serious tests. It is even able to be run over by a car and still work the same. “It is basically indestructible” says Sony.

Unlike conventional LCD TVs OLED TVs do not require to be back lit in any way, contributing to the fact that that they use up a fraction of the electricity that LCD and plasma sets use. They also have a plethora of new features that make them a must have piece of kit. It sounds too good to be true with all these benefits, so how is it possible? This leap has been made possible by the use of new technologies; the screen is made up of an organic layer of transistor forming the grid that makes up the crystal clear pictures whilst remaining only millimetres thick. And because the display is made up organic materials they are eco friendly too.

With Sony leading the way followed by Samsung this new technology does not just belong in the world of home entertainment but computing also. This brings possibilities for OLED displays into the business world for use in displays and monitors, with the impressive images and benefits from being super thin and light (with an OLED monitor measuring only 10 mm thick) being applicable to the workplace, the potential is massive.

OLED televisions and displays are such an advancement that at this early stage seem set to blow away their competitors in the LCD, LED and plasma markets. But as would be expected Sony will first start to introduce the smaller versions of they displays to the market with the larger displays planned one the market is established. Because of the advances and improvement in picture quality even the smaller displays will be so impressive that they expect them to become the market leaders, with the prospect of the large displays coming at a later date.

The light produced by the OLED televisions is actually organic. To be more technical there are organic light emitting diodes that produce the picture with highly announced quality. This comes to show you what OLED stands for. Play movies and view your home desktop at far better quality then the already amazing LED televisions. That’s right you are even able to sync your computer with your television very easily. Simply connect it through a special cable that you can pick up at the local Radio Shack. This is the main thing Sony is trying to capture. They want the computer industry to flourish with these new televisions.

And with Sony beginning the revolution releasing the first displays on the market with Samsung set to follow, we are beginning to see the first commercially available displays on the market. As already said the smaller displays will be the first we see appearing on the market with a size of 13 inch OLED TV being manufactured.

OLED Monitors

October 2nd, 2009
by Jean Bowie

First there was the LCD television, and then there was the Plasma television. Following that was the newly released LED television, but Sony is not stopping there. They are newly releasing the OLED television that is said to make all the other types of televisions a thing of the past.

With the advances of the viewing experience given to us by LCD and plasmas displays it is hard to perceive that the market could be revolutionized by the emergence on OLED displays, but the benefits that come along with OLED displays are set to do just that. With super light and thin displays that are flexible whilst maintaining their crystal clear definition, the improvements are astounding.

These OLED displays are simply to die for. They are packed with endless amounts of amazing features. The most amazing feature is that it uses up less electricity as LCD televisions and do not require in anyway a backlight in order to function. So what makes these crystal clear images show? There is overlaying thin film transistors that cross each other many times forming a grid. This grid forms what you see on the screen. These thin film transistors are one hundred percent completely organic, meaning that no harm to the environment is caused. This produces a much clearer picture at only millimetres of thinness.

Samsung and Sony are leading the way with the development and production of OLED displays and monitors. Sony is the leader in the pack. The technology is not only finding its way into our homes but also into our businesses. The abilities of this new development can be applied to produce stunning results providing displays for the workplace with a 1cm thick flexible display. Sony is developing all the time and has plans for displays of a thickness that is a fraction of this.

As the name would suggest the light produced by OLED displays is organic or natural light, to be more specific the improvements in picture qualities are being produced by light emitting diodes, which is how the name or term comes about. LED television only just new to the market are being eclipsed by this new technology so advanced is the picture quality. The benefits from them are going to be seen through out the home on televisions and computer displays. And whilst the cost might be restrictive at first, this situation will quickly improve. Sony seems to at fist be directing OLED displays towards the computer market.

As for the immediate future of LED TVs and displays, we should expect to see the first Sony produced displays appearing with Samsung shortly afterwards. The first displays produced will be 13 inches in size, but this is surely the start for what is potentially a new expanding market with larger improved sets set to follow in the very near future.

Halo 3 Modification

August 19th, 2009
by Casey Jones

A Halo 3 mod is generally thought of as any software modification that alters the game play in the super popular video game for the Xbox 360, Halo 3. But the terminology also includes many other modifications, such as physical changes made to the Xbox 360 console to show the world that you are a hard-core Halo fanatic.

However, before someone can create a Halo 3 mod, they need the proper tools, together with some technical expertise. These tools usually include a couple of pieces of software that allow people to de-construct, edit, and reconstruct Halo 3 files. It would also involve some hardware to allow the Xbox 360 hard drive to be uploaded into a PC and the files to be downloaded to that hard drive.

You have to do this because the Xbox 360 is not a unit on which files can be modified. In the past, the hardware developers, in this example Microsoft, made the tools available to those who paid the licensing fee. But as time passed, especially with Halo 3 mods, the community has developed several tools and techniques to achieve what needs to be done for modification.

A Halo 3 mod also encompasses, as stated earlier, physical alterations to the Xbox 360 console itself. For example, some people might take off the case and actually carve the words ‘Halo 3′ into it. They might also accompany this by painting the console red, blue or green to match the colour of the armour of the heroes in the game.

However, it’s a pretty extreme way to say to the world – I like Halo 3 – because it could result in actual damage that renders the Xbox 360 unplayable. People often display their altered Xbox 360s on photo-sharing sites such as Flickr and when they go toattend live LAN events.

One of the stipulations that people who are interested in the world of the Halo 3 mod try to focus on is that these should not be used for the purpose of cheating. Modifications are fun to get a new aspect on Halo 3 play or a new look for certain levels. But if they’re used to make the game unfair in favour of one person or team, they ruin the overall game experience for everyone.

One website where a person can find many a Halo 3 mod is H3mod.com. The site calls itself the ‘future of Halo modding’. It seems like a good place to begin if you really want to find out more about a Halo 3 mod.

Teeth Whitening System: The Opalescence System

August 14th, 2009
by Pauline Davies

Most people like their teeth to be both pearly and white. It may sound a truism, but then it is true. People love to have beautiful teeth. One might even say that people are particularly vain concerning their teeth. This is because when meeting people, the teeth are usually the first thing to get noticed. We smile in order to show people that we are friendly. There are even people who rely on their smiles for their living. These are the reasons behind the popularity of such products as the Opalescence teeth whitening range.

The Opalescence teeth whitening system lets people take the system home and do the whitening themselves. This might seem like a lot of work to some people, but for others, it means convenience. These days, people often do not have the time to go to the dentist for teeth whitening. Others choose to get a suntan instead of having their teeth whitened. This is why the Opalescence teeth whitening system is so popular. Convenience is definitely one of the things that people look for today.

What method does the Opalescence teeth whitening system make use of? Well, firstly, you have to know that the Opalescence teeth whitening system is a professional-grade bleaching system, which means that it should be able to whiten your teeth faster than many other over the counter teeth whitening systems. This is because of the fact that most OTC teeth whitening systems contain only about 3 to 10 percent hydrogen peroxide, whereas the Opalescence teeth whitening product range contains 38 percent hydrogen peroxide.

Although most teeth whitening systems require the application of a bleaching light in order to ‘activate’ the product, the Opalescence teeth whitening system is the first one which lists the use of the light as ‘optional’. People like this because it is often the case that the cost of the bleaching light is undeniably more than the cost of the actual product. Another relevant fact is that lately, many dentists are discovering that ’studies’ regarding the use of bleaching lights rarely prove that the light is necessary|needed to stimulate the hydrogen peroxide.

Although you can take the Opalescence teeth whitening system home and do it yourself, it is still recommended that you get a professional to whiten your teeth for you. This is because the Opalescence teeth whitening system works best when in the hands of a professional, experienced user. It takes about 90 minutes from preparation to the completion of the procedure. Think of it! Just one and a half hours and you have whiter teeth!

Besides providing you with brighter, whiter teeth, the opalescence teeth whitening system also offers you other advantages. Many teeth bleaching systems may create sensitive teeth and therefore, deny you the pleasure of eating ice cream, the opalescence teeth whitening system actually reduces the problem of sensitivity, which means that you do not have to sacrifice the pleasure of eating certain hot or cold foods just to have a great smile.

Another complaint that people have about common bleaching agents is that they often cause teeth to become vulnerable to cavities. However, the opalescence teeth whitening system actually strengthens the enamel, making it more durable and decreases the likelihood of cavities.

The opalescence teeth whitening system can give great benefits to anyone who uses the product. You get whiter teeth in a convenient and painless way. So what are you waiting for?

Star Wars and LEGO Sets

August 9th, 2009
by Peter Bainum

Thus far there have been 7 movies released based on the Star Wars storyline. LucasFilms has done a tremendous job marketing these films and creating products based on these movies. One of the more popular products for the Star Wars movies is LEGO sets. The LEGO Group signed on with LucasFilms in 1999 to recreate scenes from each movie and the response from fans has proven to be very positive.

Episode I: The Phantom Menace is the first prequel released. It was released in 1999 and earlier that year The LEGO Group had already begun releasing LEGO sets for the first Star Wars movie. The Phantom Menace Star Wars LEGO Sets include some very popular and rare Star Wars LEGO mini figures like Darth Maul, a young Anakin Skywalker and Jar Jar Binks.

Attack of the Clones, not to be confused with the Clone Wars, was the second film released as a follow up to the original Star Wars series. The Attack of the Clones LEGO Sets include some of the more desirable Star Wars LEGO mini figures, like the Tusken Raiders, which are unique to this series, Count Dooku, Yoda, and the ever popular and hard to find Jango Fett.

Episode III: Revenge of the Sith is the third prequel movie released. This one came out in 2005. The Episode III LEGO Sets include a great LEGO set called Ultimate Lightsaber Duel. This could be the LEGO Groups most interactive Star Wars LEGO Set to date is it contains two LEGO mini figures, Anakin and Obi-Wan Kenobi, who are controlled by sticks connected to a platform each of them stands on. These two sticks can be moved back and forth and a battle scene is recreated!

Episode IV: A New Hope is the very first movie released by Lucasfilms way back in 1977. The LEGO Group didn’t released the first Episode IV LEGO set until 1999! This is because it took that long for the two of them to come together and form a partnership.

Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back was the second film released for the Star Wars series of films. The Episode V LEGO Sets include the original of the Slave I star ships, 7144 and 6209. The 6209 version of the two is the best as it is a much larger sized build and much more true the films version of the star ship.

The Return of the Jedi is the final installment in the original series of movies. Return of the Jedi LEGO sets include some really cool Star Wars LEGO Mini figures like the mini figures from the Jabba the Hutt series of sets, Jabba the Hutt himself, a disguised Lando, and a half naked Princess Leia.

The Clone Wars movie is based on the like named animated series of a few years back. The LEGO sets produced around this movie are different from other Star Wars LEGO Sets in that LEGO went for an animated look with the mini figures that are included with these sets.

In today’s world, everything is moving at a breathtaking pace. Regardless of one’s chronological age or socio-economic status in life, it is imperative that one should be armed with compact disc copying skills. Even if you are still a student, a struggling office employee, a very successful businessman or a popular celebrity, you should be knowledgeable on burning, the term used in the pop culture for copying files on a CD. Since everyone is aware that the world is undergoing a tough financial crisis that has no signs of slowing down, it is imperative that cash should be used in the best way possible. Even if you are just slashing your expenses a few centavos at a time, it is still better than not doing anything at all. Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince The New Harry Potter Film Harry Potter The New Film

July 31st, 2009
by Amy Worthington

What’s up with these Harry Potter films anyway? It is absolutely amazing the effect that these movies have on some of their fans. Have you seen the first four? Well, if the answer is no, then you’re certainly in the minority. The amazing thing is that both kids and adults alike seemed to equally love the adventures of the young wizard.

Because of the wild enthusiasm that the kids work is flying, the adults too were getting sucked into these imaginative books. The writing was on the wall that we would soon see feature films created. While I did see the first four, they didn’t really excite me as much as I had hoped. But that’s just me, my daughter absolutely adores them. I must admit, the concept of the Harry Potter films is the perfect key to classic escapism. Isn’t that why we go to the movie theatres, as an escape from our everyday lives. Come on, you want to get your money’s worth and there’s a lot to be said for vicarious thrills.

It all began if one single book. We humans seem to love our works of fiction. Or perhaps in this case, fantasy. Either way, the Harry Potter series is a runaway smash hit. When the first book hit the shelves of every bookstore around the world, I actually didn’t really care for its. Yippy, yet another children’s novel that delves into the supernatural realm of magic and the age old good versus evil genre. Like that hasn’t been done to death already. But kids from all over the world were new to these concepts and this in turn got the adult’s attention as well.
