Home Office Decorating Ideas
Does your home office need a bit of a lift? Does the dull decor stifle your ability to work well in that space? By making a few changes to the decor, you can get rid of the clutter and at the same time improve both creativity and productivity.
Here are some ideas for you if you have had enough of trying to work in that boring room. The first thing to do is to list those things you really want to change. It’s likely to be quite a long list. For example, would you like more desk space and less clutter? Are the colors too drab, making it a depressing place to work? If you have your own business, you don’t want to be anything but happy working at it, so you have to correct these problems. Start by getting rid of that clutter.
Before you begin you want to go through all your mail and get rid of the junk mail. You can purchase a few clear stackable storage containers to place everything in. Remember there is a place for everything. Avoid clutter by any means possible. You want everything to be available to you by a simply labeling everything. Now the clutter is gone and everything is in the right place.
It’s important that you have enough desk space to be able to work comfortably. If you don’t have this you will get frustrated and not work efficiently. Just some simple changes can fix this. A monitor which can be mounted on the wall is a great idea, placed at eye level. You can now still see your monitor, but have all that extra working space on the desk.
Office supplies can take up alot of room so store your office supplies by making your own storage table under the storage space. First you will need to purchase a few sheets of plywood and felt to cover it. Purchase three filing cabinets and three wall brackets. First set your filing cabinets about a foot apart from each other and a foot and one half a way from the wall itself. Place the brackets behind the file cabinets. Place the covered plywood on top. Pull the cabinets to the front and leave a visible space on top. This creates your storage space and gives you a brand new work area. The felt will keep your papers from falling off.
Now that you are clutter free and have more work space you can now use color to balance out your office. Use a color scheme that you like the most. If you are renting your office space you may be restricted by what you can do. You can always place an area rug down on the floor to decorate your office. This area rug can be cleaned quickly and can help maintain high traffic areas. Once you follow these tips to stay organized you will be adding style and color to an office.
