How To Start Making More Sales

August 1st, 2009
by Nora Wilson

Are you getting a ton of traffic coming to your site but not getting them to convert into paying customers? If so, then you are probably really frustrated when you check your statistics and see that you are so close to getting your business to grow but still not able to make the numbers you need. But did you know that with a few minor changes in your approach that you can dramatically increase the number of conversions on your website? If you are interested in knowing what these things are then the following five tips will help.

To begin with, be ready not to get a conversion from a first time visitor. Your product may be great and your offer may be attractive, but it doesn’t mean a person will want to buy from you on a first visit. So, instead of making this common mistake and trying to sell, get visitors contact details and follow up with your offer after.

Secondly, make your offer work as a well organized process. Don’t offer people too many choices at once, they will be confused and will not go through any of them. Offer them something for free in the beginning, get their contact info in return and lead them to sales page after.

After that you have to tell people more about your product, but concentrate more on the emotional benefits they are going to receive from it. The thing is, people care much more about their benefits and feelings than about product features. So, make sure you give them this information.

Fourth, try to make your offer urgent, make customers feel that if they don’t purchase something now, they will loose a great deal, because if you don’t people will always take time to think about it and might never come back to this again.

Finally, make your call to action clear and directive. Tell people what to do and never assume that they know anything. This means that you don’t just put a submit button on your page, it means that you also TELL them EXACTLY what to do with it. Positioning yourself as the expert means that you are assuming that people are going to do what you say without questions. Be this person when it comes to your visitors.

So, see if your internet marketing strategy is missing some of these principles out, apply them in your online business and you will be able to increase the number of your clients dramatically.

Keyword Tools For Effective Adwords Campaigns

July 26th, 2009
by Cliff C. Kelly

Google adwords is all about having the correct keywords and keyphrases your market use. There are countless keyword and keyphrases variations in any given niche and simply guessing the actual keywords relevant to your niche is a lot like high stakes gambling wherein all the odds are stacked against you. Always do your homework first to build a list of the right keywords and keyphrases using keyword tools.

Most adwords veterans, the ones that actually profit from Adwords, use a three-step process in selecting keywords and keyphrases. Step 1 is to start with the most common and obvious keywords and input them on a keyword tool to determine the volume of searches for each keyword. Step 2 is searching for keyword synonyms and other relevant terms that their target market uses. Step 3 is all about optimizing the list by weeding out inefficient keywords.

You need to have the correct keyword tool before you can use this three-step process. The best keyword tools are Google Keyword Selector Tool, Keyword Discovery, Word Tracker and a simple Thesaurus according to Howie Jacobson, author of the book ‘Adwords for Dummies’.

Google’s Keyword Selector Tool is free to use and can be accessed through your Adwords account. The tool allows you to enter one or several keywords into its box and show results for hat keyword along with similar or ‘relevant’ keywords in the niche. The tool will show you the volume of searches conducted per month, the average cost per click, and other statistical data you can use to analyze and compare different keywords.

Keyword Discovery tool has more features suited for experienced Adwords users and SEO specialists. Its main features include the ability to handle many lists of keywords, compare and analyze different data and easily convert data analyses into reports. It is a paid service though but it is a step above Google’s free Adwords Keyword tool.

Word Tracker has a paid service and a free tool. The free keyword tool is quite useful for cross-referencing keyword data. It only provides very basic data such as the number of searches conducted within a month for a keyword or keyphrase. It is also important to note that the data this tool produces may have some discrepancy with Google’s Keyword Selector tool.

Using keyword tools can be an effective way to ‘mine’ for long-tail keywords and synonyms in your niche. You’ll have an opportunity to compare and analyze dozens, even hundreds of keywords easily and can export the data into an Excel spreadsheet or other document for easy retrieval.

Keyword research is literally the key to creating successful adwords campaigns. Get this right and you will have an understanding of your market that can then be translated into ads that bring in enormous click-through rates. Use all the tools available at your disposal, may they be free or paid services. If you’re starting out, I highly suggest that you print out or organize all the data you get from these tools in order to build your campaign’s foundation.

How To Generate High Quality Traffic With Google Adwords Keyword Tool

May 26th, 2009
by Alexia S. Martin

Once you start your ads for your Google Adwords campaign, you must be informed what keywords or keyphrases will be compelling to your target so they can identify your ad easily. Perry Marshall, Google Adwords guru, promotes making full use of the Google Adwords Keyword Selector Tool when doing each ad as it can be of big help to pay-per-click managers and all Adwords users. Among the benefits that this free tool can give you are as follows: finding the most popular and profitable keywords in your niche, and drilling related keywords useful in your other campaigns. You can fine tune your efforts with Google Adwords Keyword Selector Tool if your ads do not perform well; it may mean that they are not getting enough click-throughs due to low-traffic keywords.

Here are some more ways to use the Google Adwords Keyword Selector Tool effectively for your Adwords campaign:

1. Start with a broad search. Many people make the mistake of using very specific keywords or keyphrases when they first begin conducting research with Google Adwords, but this can leave you with only mediocre results. Start with a broad search instead and drill down your results using the ’synonyms’ tool that offers suggestions and variations as part of the results.

2. Create different ad groups using a set of similar keywords. Make sure you are creating an entirely new ad group for every campaign so you can keep track of what is working – and what isn’t. You can also make use of the ‘relevant keywords’ feature already built into the Google Adwords Keyword Selector Tool that helps you narrow down your search with ease.

3. Use a ‘negative keywords’ strategy. Google Adwords campaign’s optimization may require evaluating words and phrases that do not in favor of your market; you may adjust the Google Adwords tool so that it will only display relevant words. For example, if you are selling greeting cards but your basic search keeps showing results for ‘free greeting cards,’ you can eliminate the word ‘free’ by designating it as a negative keyword. Google Adwords Keyword Selector Tool now shows results but the word ‘free’ will not be seen.’

4. Use the Site Content feature if you don’t know where to start. Based on your site’s content, Google systematically scans your webpage and recommends related keywords. For instance, if your webpage has information on your marketplace’s services and trends, your particular niche may have these strong keywords. The results will show highly targeted keywords connected to these ideas and topics after scanning completes.

5. Location, location, location. Including the location (a town, a city, or a state) to the key term or key phrase is very crucial. If you are currently establishing a service or product in a specific area or location, it can be very useful since the traffic you get out of these keywords will definitely be higher and qualified ones compared to general search. Find the best combinations for your ad campaign by adding a keyword or keyphrase with a location.

Page One On Google! Does It Mean A Lot Of Web Traffic?

May 16th, 2009
by Anthony Buchalka

So you have a new web site, and you have your very own site developed and uploaded and you are ready for the money to start rolling in.

Or perhaps you have had a website going for a while and have been disappointed in the results of getting free web traffic. Perhaps you are now considering that now is the time to give up.

Then again you may be an affiliate looking for different ways to get traffic to an affiliate program that does not involve using Google Adwords.

For the majority of new internet marketers, the results can leave a lot to be desired. We put all our initial efforts into getting the website to look great, adding the options for people to buy our products, or getting the ads fitting in nicely with our content, or our CPA (Cost Per Action) offers ready to rock and roll, etc.

But no matter how nice the website looks, it’s not going to do you much good without traffic coming to your website is it? This is a problem many beginning (and intermediate) internet marketers make. They do all the preparation of the website first, including choosing the products, etc without doing any research. Big problem!

And figuring out how to get web traffic is something they will get around to later.

I’m going to suggest this is the wrong way of doing things. Instead you should follow the steps below.

Step 1. Research your market and keywords first.

This is the most important thing you need to do first. Spend time looking at your niche of interest, and find out what people are looking for, and then sell it to them. Sounds simple right, but again and again I see people developing or promoting products that they believe are of interest. Let me tell you it’s not what you think people want, it’s all about what your potential visitor will find interesting and useful.

How are you going to find out what people want? With Market Research. Spend time looking in forums, competitor websites, and other websites to see what people are talking about, what their problems are, what they have issues with and then sell THAT to them.

Get it in your mind that you want to help people. You genuinely should be aiming to help people, and not just try to make a buck from them. By putting the needs of your target audience first, you will find your results will improve dramatically.

Remember the market will tell you what they want to buy. Don’t second guess! Research!

Step 2 Targeted web traffic.

Now is the time to be figuring out how you are going to be getting web traffic to your website.

You should have a firm idea(s) in mind. Here are a few suggestions. Article Marketing, Blog Posts, RSS Syndication, Blog post commenting, web 2.0 promotion, more traditional SEO (Search Engine Optimization).

I will explain each of this in subsequent articles, but suffice to say if you do not know of many or any of these techniques, now is the time to be learning about this techniques.

Keyword research is also vital. You need to do some proper research into the keywords you aim to use with a view again of web traffic. Which keywords are you going to target? How much traffic do these keywords get each day? How much competition do they have?

These are questions you need to answer now before proceeding further.

Step three is about conversion.

In other words how are you going to make money from these visitors? e.g. converting visitors into customers.

Are you selling a product? Do you have ads on your web pages? Are you aiming to get the visitor to sign up to a newsletter and promote to them via email?

You should have clear goals here of how you intend to make money, and also research what your competitors are doing. Before proceeding further.

The reality is that in some markets you will have less than desirable results with a particular form of selling, and research is the key to figuring this out.

Step 4 – We get to the least important of the 4 factors and that is the product!

You have done your research, figured out how you are going to get web traffic, and have a plan on how to make money with your web traffic.

Now you can think about the product! Most newbie marketers start with the product first and wonder why the have no sales, or no visitors! They have not spent the time finding out what their audience wants and how they are going to get them to their website.

I hope this article starts you thinking about how you are going to get targeted web traffic to your website. With a plan and a clear direction you can succeed.

Make sure you take the time to figure out a plan of attack before you go running off to produce a product. Do the research first!

What Expensive Video Production Companies Don’t Want You to Know

April 16th, 2009
by Terry Stanfield

Video marketing has forged into the Internet and revolutionized the way people practice their marketing efforts. This means success for many people and a downfall for others. The biggest companies suffering are the expensive video companies because people have realized they can find what they offer elsewhere or even make it themselves.

Video production companies want you to think they are the only ones out there who can provide what you need when it comes to video marketing. There are many things they try hard not to share with the customer so the customer doesn’t go elsewhere. Here are six things that an expensive video production company does not want you to know.

1. Video production companies don’t want you to know about hosting companies who can store these large files online for you. They like to be the holder of videos and charge for making any additional copies being made and more.

2. A video ad marketing campaign requires a good camera to do the job. These cameras are not required or only held by expensive companies but can be rented at local camera shops for a small percentage of what you would pay the company.

3. There are cheap editing packages out there you can find to edit your videos for free or even at a very low cost. Most production companies will tell you their editing software for video marketing is the only software that can be used for the best results in quality and to increase website traffic.

4. They also don’t want you to know that your video is compatible with other platforms and sites. You can make your own videos that will have the same compatibilities as a production company for your video marketing needs.

5. One of the major costs of a video marketing production company is usually the costs of marketing. They do not want you to know about all of the free ways you can market your videos online yourself.

6. The number one thing a video marketing or production company that is expensive does not want you to know is how easy it really is to make your own videos. These companies are suffering now because of all of the people practicing making their own videos and they need as many people who don’t know how to make them not to find out.

There are many reasons why video marketing companies want to withhold information about videos. Many of these businesses have been put out of business with people making their own videos today. The things a business doesn’t want you to know about video ad marketing include how easy it is, camera rentals, cheap editing and marketing, and more.

Big Mistakes to Avoid in Video Marketing

April 12th, 2009
by Terry Stanfield

Video marketing is very important for an online business today. However, there are many ways that a business will fail when they practice the wrong techniques. It is important to utilize video properly so you are successful with your efforts to increase website traffic.

There are many common mistakes people make when they are attempting a video ad marketing campaign. These mistakes can cost a business their success. Here are six things you should avoid when you practice video marketing.

1. Use the wrong camera. If you have a camera on your cell phone it doesn’t mean you should use it for professional purposes. The quality of the resolution and picture are very poor coming from a cell phone. Never shoot your videos from a cell phone or a digital camera. Be sure to have a high quality camera so you shoot a high quality video.

2. Shooting a video in a garage. One of the biggest mistakes is the location people choose. However, you can produce a video anywhere you want to but you must be mindful about the background you have. It would be wise to invest in a backdrop for your video marketing if you are limited on space.

3. Not editing the video. Many companies shoot a video for their video ad marketing and they don’t edit it. They shoot the video and walk away. This leaves space and extra breaks that are unnecessary. This may also cause a video to be far too long for the customer’s attention span.

4. Not marketing. When you have a video online you have to market. You can increase website traffic when you create a website page for the video and get the word out the video is ready for viewing. Who will know your video exists if you don’t practice the right methods of marketing?

5. Using the wrong person. Many video marketing ads fail because they use the wrong person in the ad. Let’s face it. You need someone who is pleasing to look at and who has a voice that is pleasing to hear. A scratchy or screechy voice will only drive customers away. Someone who looks funny will only cause customers to focus on how strange the person talking looks and not on your product. Make sure the ‘face’ of your video is someone who is nice to look at.

6. Not taking advantage of the opportunity. Video marketing is another opportunity to drive more traffic to your site. You must do everything you can with your videos. This means placing keywords in the video as an overlay. These keywords are also beneficial for search engines too. Always put your company URL in the video too.

Video marketing campaigns can go wrong in so many ways. It is important to consider many things that you should not do when you are shooting a video. These things include using a poor camera, an unattractive person, no backdrop, no editing, no marketing, and not properly taking advantage of the opportunity.
