Any bio you create should be consistent and include the same information each time. If you follow this formula, your media bio will have the fact necessary to support your media pitch and will have no need to change significantly.

10. Finally, remember the purpose of your author or expert bio is to give the media a summary of you and your expertise so they can decide if you are the right expert for their TV shows, radio show, newspaper or magazine article or online media. Be sure to get high quality headshot of yourself as often the media will ask for a picture of you to include in the article. Get a professional photo created for you. Do not use a quick snapshot of you at the part throwing a frisbee for your professional media photo as this many not create the right picture in the minds of the media or those booking you.

How Did America’s Height Average Get So Tall

January 25th, 2010

In American there was a time when it was expected that the children were to outgrow their parents. Every 20 years in the early 20th century, both children and adolescents grew about an inch and a half. The average height for American’s has hit the ceiling give and take. In the past 50 years height has stabilized and the average American men’s height is about 5 feet 9 inches and for women its 5 feet 4 inches. “In terms of stature we’ve pretty much maxed out. Over the last generation there has been little change in height”, says an anthropologist, William Leonard, at Northwestern University.

Eat Healthy

Leonard explains the reason is that most American youths now face few nutritional or health-related stresses. Most Americans have avoided diseases and have consumed enough meat and milk in their youth to reach their potential genetic height growth due to the fact that most people grow most as infants than as adolescents.

“In ethic compositions there are large heterogeneity” says Leonard. “Asian-American and Hispanic Americans is where height increasing is still happening.” According to Leonard what leads to malnutrition and health care problems, and generations of children still growing not reaching the maximums yet are immigration population and communities where there are social economic constraints. Leonard also points out that height averages has more or less stabilized, but there is a small population where increase height are still happening (still not large enough to effect the overall averages).

Since the 30’s, studies has shown how a person’s environment (which points towards nutrition) can not only affect directly a person’s size, but their body height as well. Sixty years ago, analysis was done on European immigrants to the United States and researchers showed that immigrant children born in the US were taller and had larger heads and broader facial features than their foreign born parents and siblings. Studies that were done more recent in the 60’s and 70’s has even more directly indicated the importance of nutrition to height growth. Anthropologists analyzed a series of villages in Central America. They provided nutritional growth supplements to some infants and placebo to the other infants. The children who had the supplements overwhelmingly grew taller and throughout their life and were more successful.

Growing Stages of Life

During the first two to three years of a human’s life is when they grow the fastest, and they will continue to grow taller throughout childhood until about the age of 10 or 11 years of age. Leonard also points out that by the age of 17 is when girls reach their maximum height while boys tend to grow a little later reaching their tallest by 20 years of age. Since growth occurs almost exclusively in infancy and adolescence, it is critical that a person receives good nutrition to get taller.

America’s most famous tall person, Wilt Chamberlain, grew four inches within three months at 15 years old which is a huge growth spurt. He was a towering 7 feet 1 inch when he played college basket ball. Leonard points out that growing beyond 20 years is rare, but late growth spurts are more likely to occur when there are poor nutrition in their earlier stages in life. A great example is that malnourished communities in South America will continue to grow throughout their 20’s. They still remain shorter than most Americans because they grew less during the most critical stages of growth which was the years of their childhood.

Height Can Tell Longevity

A recent study done by David Gunnel, an epidemiologist at England’s University of Bristol, showed that you can predict one’s longevity by determining their body height. And since a person’s early health and nutrition has resulted in increased height, it’s safe to say that it’s a good indicator of one’s longevity.

Gunnel was able to show with his studies that the length of the bone correlates to overall height by exhuming and measuring hundreds ninth to nineteenth century arm and leg bones from English Graves. According to him the longer the bone the more likely a person lived beyond the age of 30.

Being tall in the more modern time can help someone sexually and professionally be more successful. Studies have shown that in the United States presidential candidates that are taller are most likely to be elected (with the exception of the recent George W. Bush) and based on hearsay evidence the taller a person is the more attractive they are and can find sexual partners easier.

Height’s Disadvantages

There are other difficulties that are pointed from hearsay evidence. “Tall basketball players have their own everyday life disadvantages with food, clothing, living quarters, beds, etc.” says Blackenhorn. There is strain to the circulatory and skeletal systems when a human is very tall. Animal evidence show that being too tall can have drawbacks according to Wolf Blanckenhorn of the University of Zurich, Switzerland. In order to survive when food is scarce, oversized animals need to eat more. Predators and parasites prey less on taller animals because they tend to be less agile.

Now that Americans have reached their genetic growth potentials, anthropologists think that its unlikely they will develop a new genetic pool to grow even taller. Which means that Americans that are very tall will continue to be perceived as…very tall. And according to Leonard, being different in which ever way, even in height, is rarely ever easy. But there is one publication called Growing Taller 4 Idiots that will help anyone who wants to advance their growth by a few inches naturally. People will always find ways to get taller, whether it be with a growth enhancer, a growth booster, a growing taller exercise, or books on how to increase your height or how to make yourself taller. And the question will always remain amongst horizontally challenged people is “How can I grow taller?”.

Microsoft MCSE Training UK Examined

January 19th, 2010

Should you be wanting to study to get an MCSE, it’s likely you’ll come into one of two categories. You might be ready to get into the IT environment, and you’ve discovered that the industry has a great need for people with the right qualifications. Or you are perhaps an IT professional ready to gain acknowledgement with the Microsoft qualification.

When researching training colleges, make it a policy to steer clear of those who reduce their costs by failing to provide the current Microsoft version. Such institutions will hold back the student as they will have been learning from an old version of MCSE which doesn’t match the existing exam programme, so it will make it very difficult for them to pass.

A company’s mission statement should be on doing the best thing for their clients, and they should care greatly about their results. Career study isn’t just about the certification – it should initially look at helping you to decide on the best action plan for your future.

Adding in the cost of examination fees upfront then giving it ‘Exam Guarantee’ status is common for many companies. However, let’s consider what’s really going on:

Obviously it isn’t free – you’re still coughing up for it – it’s just been wrapped up in the price of the package.

Trainees who take each progressive exam, funding them as they go are far more likely to pass first time. They’re conscious of their spending and revise more thoroughly to ensure they are ready.

Isn’t it outrageous to have to pay a training college up-front for exam fees? Find the best exam deal or offer at the appropriate time, rather than coughing up months or even a year or two in advance – and sit exams more locally – not at somewhere of their bidding.

Why tie up your cash (or borrow more than you need) for exams when there was no need to? A great deal of money is netted by organisations charging upfront for all their exams – and hoping either that you won’t take them, or it will be a long time before you do.

Re-takes of any failed exams with training companies who offer an ‘Exam Guarantee’ inevitably are heavily regulated. They’ll insist that you take mock exams first to make sure they think you’re going to pass.

With average prices for VUE and Pro-metric tests coming in at approximately 112 pounds in Great Britain, it makes sense to pay as you go. It’s not in the student’s interests to fork out hundreds or thousands of pounds for exams when enrolling on a course. Study, commitment and preparing with good quality mock and practice exams is what will really guarantee success.

There are a myriad of work available in Information Technology. Picking the right one out of this complexity can be very difficult.

I mean, if you have no know-how of the IT market, how could you possibly know what a particular IT employee actually does day-to-day? Let alone decide on which accreditation path provides the best chances for you to get there.

Getting to the right answer can only grow through a systematic analysis of many altering criteria:

* Our personalities play an important role – what gets you ‘up and running’, and what are the activities that put a frown on your face.

* Are you hoping to re-train due to a specific raison d’etre – e.g. are you pushing to work at home (being your own boss?)?

* Is the money you make further up on your priority-list than other requirements.

* Considering all that the IT industry encapsulates, it’s important to be able to see the differences.

* You’ll also need to think hard about the amount of time and effort you’re going to give to your education.

The bottom line is, the only real way of investigating all this is through a meeting with someone who has enough background to provide solid advice.

Finding your first job in the industry is often made easier with the help of a Job Placement Assistance service. Because of the growing shortage of skills in Great Britain today, there’s no need to make too much of this option though. It really won’t be that difficult to land the right work once you’re properly qualified.

Nevertheless, avoid waiting until you’ve passed your final exams before getting your CV updated. Right at the beginning of your training, list what you’re working on and place it on jobsites!

It’s possible that you won’t have even qualified when you’ll secure your initial junior support role; however this won’t be the case if interviewers don’t get sight of your CV.

The best services to help you find a job are usually specialist locally based employment services. Because they make their money when they’ve found you a job, they have more incentive to get on with it.

A constant grievance of various training companies is how much men and women are prepared to study to become certified, but how un-prepared that student is to get the job they’re qualified for. Have confidence – the IT industry needs YOU.

Massive developments are about to hit technology over the next few decades – and it only gets more exciting every day.

We’re barely beginning to understand what this change will mean to us. How we interact with the world will be massively affected by technology and the internet.

Wages in the IT sector aren’t to be ignored moreover – the average salary in the United Kingdom for an average person working in IT is considerably more than in the rest of the economy. It’s likely that you’ll earn a much better deal than you’d expect to earn doing other work.

Because the IT market sector is still growing at an unprecedented rate, one can predict that the need for certified IT specialists will flourish for decades to come.

Book Publicity And Promotion – Taking It To The Streets

January 19th, 2010

So, you have completed and published your first book. What do you do now? Well, it is time to show you how book promotion and publicity market your book. Although this may appear to be a daunting task, there are numerous opportunities for you to take this most important step.

With the many online companies that will help you self-publish, once completed, the tasks of promotion and publicity fall into your hands. Depending on the topic, you will be able to find many local options to get your book and your face in front of a potential buying audience. However, be aware of many companies online that claim that they can help you. They will offer you online seminars on the proper procedures and techniques to get your book out to the public. Just be careful as if you published this piece yourself, you may have budget constraints and all of this can cost you quite a lot of money. What they will attempt to show you, in many cases, is the use of common sense. You will be exposed to marketers that are more interested in selling you stuff, more than they are interested in helping you sell your book, or at least make people aware that you wrote something of value. So, beware.

Although the most passive marketing concept is using the Internet, if you are computer savvy, you can launch a blog or a website to promote your book. Getting people to find you then becomes the difficult task and optimizing search engines to promote any particular site can get expensive. If you know someone that can help you here, you can get some outstanding exposure and you are obviously marketing to a very large audience.

The same process goes for local television. All stations are seeking a good story, especially if the person is from the local area. They are interested and usually very easy to work with and with all of the local programming, they are always looking for interesting people that have done something out of the ordinary.

How many bookstores are within 50 miles of where you live? Once you know that, contact them. Usually the best method is to make a personal visit and speak with the owner of the store. Again, assuming you have written about an interesting topic, you may get them to let you do a book signing. If you are really good, they may let you have a discussion group in the store explaining your topic and why you chose to write about it. Then you can meet with your potential customers, they can learn to like you and that generally creates some interest in buying your book. So, be prepared. You will need fliers and copies of the book. Try to set it up so you have a couple of weeks to advertise your visit. If you can tie that into a slot on a local radio or television station, you may be very surprised at how many people show up.

There are so many local radio shows that likely will have a potential slot for you, especially if their show covers any topics discussed in your book. They are easy to contact and are always interested in entertaining guests, as a way to gather more of the listening audience. Every television station and newspaper is looking for great local stories. Contact them, explain the who, what, when, where, why and how’s of your composition and you may find yourself sitting on the stage with a local television celebrity.

Most cities have daily or at least weekly Networking meetings. These are gatherings of local business people that are being creative in marketing their companies. At many of these meetings a guest will be chosen to be the featured company, so you may be able to present yourself to a sizable group of people, just by explaining that you have written a book and wish to get it in front of the buying public. In some cases, you may meet someone that has ties to the media and can assist you in getting to the right people to get you some media attention.

Other than the Internet, this type of marketing requires you to be personable, professional and prepared. The quality of your book will be perceived by how you present it to the world. So take as much time as you need to get ready for your next and most important task, because if you do not market your book well, no one will likely buy it and your time and efforts will have been wasted. But, if you can convey the real meanings of the book and the potential impact it will have on people, personal contact will go a long way in getting the exposure that you want.

Access additional essential book promotion strategies to help you market your book. Promoting books is easy once you know the publicity secrets of how to make your book a tremendous bestseller.

Cisco Training In Your Own Home Considered

January 17th, 2010

If you’re looking for training in Cisco, then a CCNA is most probably what you’re looking for. The Cisco training is intended for individuals who wish to understand and work with routers and network switches. Routers connect computer networks to another collection of computer networks over dedicated lines or the internet.

It’s very probable you’ll get a job with an internet service provider or a big organisation which is located on multiple sites but still wants secure internal data communication. These jobs are well paid and in demand.

You should get a bespoke training program that will take you through a specific training path to make sure you have the correct skill set and knowledge prior to getting going with Cisco.

A lot of training companies only provide basic 9am till 6pm support (maybe a little earlier or later on certain days); very few go late in the evening or at weekends.

Look for training where you can access help at all hours of the day and night (irrespective of whether it’s the wee hours on Sunday morning!) Ensure you get 24×7 direct access to mentors and instructors, and not a message system as this will slow you down – parked in a queue of others waiting to be called back at a convenient time for them.

The very best programs opt for a web-based round-the-clock system utilising a variety of support centres over many time-zones. You will have an environment which switches seamlessly to the best choice of centres any time of the day or night: Support when it’s needed.

Never make the mistake of compromise when it comes to your support. The majority of would-be IT professionals that can’t get going properly, would have had a different experience if they’d got the right support package in the first place.

Considering the amount of options that are available, there’s no surprise that nearly all newcomers to the industry get stuck choosing the job they will follow.

Because without any solid background in computing, how should we possibly understand what someone in a particular job does?

Arriving at a well-informed resolution really only appears from a methodical analysis of several shifting key points:

* Personalities play an important part – what things get your juices flowing, and what are the areas that put a frown on your face.

* Do you want to get certified due to a specific motive – for instance, is it your goal to work at home (maybe self-employment?)?

* Is salary further up on your list of priorities than anything else.

* Considering the huge variation that computing covers, you really need to be able to take in what is different.

* You’ll also need to think hard about what kind of effort and commitment you’re going to give to your education.

To be honest, it’s obvious that the only real way to investigate these matters tends to be through a good talk with an advisor or professional who has years of experience in IT (as well as it’s commercial requirements.)

Commercial certification is now, undoubtedly, beginning to replace the traditional academic paths into IT – but why is this?

The IT sector is now aware that to learn the appropriate commercial skills, official accreditation from the likes of CISCO, Adobe, Microsoft and CompTIA is far more effective and specialised – for much less time and money.

Many degrees, for example, become confusing because of a lot of background study – with much too broad a syllabus. Students are then prevented from getting enough core and in-depth understanding on a specific area.

What if you were an employer – and you required somebody who had very specific skills. What is easier: Trawl through loads of academic qualifications from several applicants, trying to establish what they know and which vocational skills they’ve acquired, or choose particular accreditations that specifically match what you’re looking for, and make your short-list from that. Your interviews are then about personal suitability – rather than on the depth of their technical knowledge.

Be alert that all exams you’re studying for are recognised by industry and are up-to-date. Training companies own certificates are not normally useful in gaining employment.

Only nationally recognised certification from the likes of Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA and Adobe will be useful to a future employer.

What Causes Acne Scars And How To Get Rid Of Them

January 11th, 2010

Acne is a perennial problem especially for women, with its sudden appearance and the permanent scars that it leaves behind. Howsoever you abhor it, acne is an undeniable part of most teenagers’ lives and a lot of effort should be put in battling these ugly bumps and preventing their recurrence.

Acne is caused due to a reaction between bacteria and sebum discharged by the glands found in skin, leading to an infection. As the infection heals, collagen, which is a protein, is created in the inner surface of the skin. On the level of collagen going below normal, tiny depressions are created on the face and on its level being excessive, visible protrusions appear. Either of these factors can lead to acne scars. Adolescents are normally more prone to acne infection as their hormones rise all of a sudden at the time of puberty causing more sebum release.

Some of the usual reasons that lead to an acne infection include intake of medicines, regular use of oral contraceptives, using cosmetics that are not suited to the skin type and genetic reasons. Numerous lifestyle aspects including food that is not nutritious enough and mental strain can also result in acne. However, there is no conclusive evidence behind the common myth that acne is caused by oily food.

Despite availability of a number of herbal cosmetics and creams for curing acne available in the stores, it is advisable to visit a skin doctor if the infection increases or appears again and again. In order to make sure that acne does not worsen, it is better to resist squeezing the lesion or poking it with pointed objects.

Many people have now started looking for medical treatments for making acne scars disappear and to get a spotless skin again. Surgery and laser treatment are two of the most successful ways of permanently removing acne scars, but many other innovative cures are also available nowadays. You should take advice from a reputed skin doctor who would be able to assess your skin type and recommend a proper remedy accordingly.

Hypnosis – How It Can Transform Your Life

January 11th, 2010

In hypnosis, the hypnotist induces the person concerned into an altered state of awareness without the use of chemicals, narcotics or any other substances. It is understood that a person who has been hypnotized reaches a comfortable state, in which he is more open to suggestions. Among the several practical applications of hypnosis, hypnotherapy is one of the most important.

Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic procedure in which the subject is hypnotized by the practitioner. This treatment acts as a cure against downbeat thinking and anything else that is ailing the patient’s mind.

A person who knows hypnosis can understand the functioning of human mind better. Thus, a hypnotherapist would know the real causes that might be hindering a person’s growth and eradicating such roadblocks with helpful thoughts could offer a huge respite to the person.

It has been observed that hypnotherapy heals people of all types of cravings. Hypnotherapy also provides a cure to people suffering from perennial stress and depression, and helps in improving levels of self confidence, besides offering patients relief from pain. Childhood problems and their after-effects like frequent bed-wetting and recurring nightmares can be cured through it as well.

Hypnotherapy also helps in career by treating psychological issues at the workplace and hence significantly improving your levels of productivity and performance. Many people having difficulty in their profession have benefited greatly from it. It removes fears of failing and establishes positive and confident thoughts in the person’s mind. Many successful politicians and businessmen are known to have used hypnotherapy to bring about a change in their personality, which has helped them in becoming better public speakers and more effective at handling inter-personal relationships.

Self hypnosis is an integral part of hypnosis. Self-hypnosis can help in banishing your inner most fears and the self can be understood better, which can set you on course for more accolades in life. Mental exercise and relaxation are both attained through regular self-hypnosis. The energy that you gain from 8 small sessions of naps is equal to what you gain from just a 1 hour spell of self-induced hypnosis. That is why hypnosis is also known as a very good way to emerge from tiredness.

There are no dark arts associated with the practice of hypnosis. It is more focussed on science and psychology than on anything mysterious. Furthermore, since it is induced without any help from drugs or other chemicals, it is absolutely harmless. People of all ages can benefit from it and lead better and more productive lives.

Learning the Mechanics of Speed Reading

January 6th, 2010

The human mind is an extraordinary force of which we only use a very small portion. In this book, “Speed Reading in only One Hour” I will demonstrate how to tap some of that unused power and use it for your own success in high school, college, and life.

Your brain is capable of understanding from 10,000 – 50,000 units of data per minute; one unit equals one word. This information is based upon old statistics (1980’s). Based on recently developed speed reading technology, and strides in brain and mind development, you can achieve even greater reading speeds.

The average high school graduate, when tested, reads about 250 words per minute. The college student reads at about 300 words per minute. But, no matter what your beginning reading speed, don’t worry, it is only the starting line. Imagine what an advantage you will have to be able to read over 100% faster than you had before; the possibilities are limitless.

We receive information through our five physical senses, (touching, tasting, hearing, smelling, and seeing) and by those we make decisions. We make choices and judgments from the factors that our physical senses bring into play. The five physical senses (sight, smell, hearing, taste, touch) are preprogrammed for automatic reaction.

We learn in many way, not only from physical senses, but through other forms of thought. Most thinking is conscious in nature. Senses, on the other hand, work automatically. An example of an automatic response might be: when a hungry teenager smells pizza, he or she begins salivating. Or was that Pavlov’s dog? Actually, it’s the same! What’s taking place is that the sense of smell (called olfactory senses) has automatically brought up a thought, “PIZZA”, to the brain and mind. The thought may be unconscious.

Sensing food is a physical expression of your sense smell and possibly taste. It is a mental sensation (unconsciously or consciously) through your thought processes. And finally, there seems to be a physical sensation by eating, swallowing, and smiling. To summarize the PIZZA concept here: Mind is where the “action” is — and your body is where your “reaction” is.

Your brain and the mind has awesome untapped potential; I’ll teach you how to tap into that potential by using the course Speed Reading in One Hour, available at speedread.org . I’ll show you how you can be a total success in your college life and beyond.

Hypnosis – Unraveling The Mysteries Behind It

January 6th, 2010

Myths have always chased hypnosis and its therapeutic offshoot, hypnotherapy. Some consider them to be some sort of spell while others hesitate to even acknowledge them. Provided below are some common misconceptions associated with hypnosis, and the real truth behind them.

Hypnosis has no link with any sort of mystical arts. It is a very simple technique, which can be explained without much difficulty with the help of psychology and other scientific methods. Even people who have observed hypnosis on others usually refuse to acknowledge it. They hold that those who can be hypnotized are somehow weak mentally. But that is not true at all. Hypnosis can be done on anyone irrespective of his or her levels of will power.

Another false belief about hypnosis that people have made up without reason is that it is an altered state of consciousness. A hypnotized individual is fully awake to what is going on around him. During the hypnotic state, the subject relaxes completely and is thus able to concentrate fully on the suggestions provided by the practitioner.

Another misconception, which has been circulated by some researchers, claims that hypnosis can be applied on merely 5% of humans. Although, the finding has some shred of truth to it, what makes it empty is the fact that the researchers used the identical hypnosis technique for everyone. One hypnosis technique for all is not a viable answer as different people come under different personality types, and hence respond to different techniques.

People also tend to associate hypnosis with meditation. But while hypnosis is a communication technique, meditation is all about a state of mind and generally has no communication involved in the process. The state of trance is not a hypnotic state either. Just like meditation, trance is a mental state, and it is not linked with communication in any manner, on the other hand the very basis of the hypnosis technique is communication.

It is often thought that hypnosis training or hypnotherapy cannot bring transformations in appearance or in behavioural patterns of an individual. Hypnosis certainly cannot transform the body in unnatural ways. But by mentally conditioning an individual to give up addictive behaviour like overeating and constant smoking, and by raising one’s motivation levels, hypnosis can bring about significant physical changes in an individual and pave the way for a healthier body.

Hypnosis, and specifically hypnotherapy, can have a vital role to play in the overall welfare of an individual, and not giving them a try just because of some false notions is an act of folly.
