Is The Best Moisturizer Really The Best Moisturizer?

February 10th, 2010

Moisturizing is an essential part of great skin care. No doubt. There is natural moisture and oils in your skin and retaining your skin moisture is important to protect your skin.

Well moisturized skin is skin that retains its own natural moisture levels better. As your skin starts to dry it loses some of its ability to retain moisture, so protecting the skin by maintaining its moisture levels is essential to good skin function.

So it would make sense to seek out and use the best moisturizer wouldn’t it? Not necessarily.

Lets consider what you want to achieve from moisturizing your skin. For the vast majority of women moisturizing is undertaken to make the skin function better as part of an overall attempt to improve the skin. Moisturizing is seen as a step in the overall skin care regime that will, hopefully, make better looking younger looking wrinkle free skin.

And so skin care companies make moisturizers because they know women will buy them to keep their skin looking good. That’s fine.

But there’s more to getting great looking healthy skin than just moizturising.

What I’m driving at is this. If you use products that improve the overall health of your skin then your skin should be healthier, and therefore better moisturized. Healthy skin is automatically better moisturized. If you use the right skin care products that improve your skin health then it will become better moisturized skin without any need to seek out the best moisturizer.

And this is recognized by the company that makes the best skin care products in the world. It doesn’t actually make a moisturizer because it’s products work so well that the result is well moisturized skin anyway.

And along the way their products include ingredients that both moisturize the skin and promote skin health. But you can’t buy a moisturizer from them, you don’t need to. Their skin care products are the best moisturizer.

And that’s what you’re looking for isn’t it?

So you’d assume that the products from this small company must be really expensive. But they aren’t and I’ll explain why.

Big brand skin care companies spend huge amounts on advertising, and this has to be factored into the price of the products. So the products on the shelves are expensive.

But the company that makes the best skin care products DOESN’T ADVERTISE. So whilst you may not have heard of it right now, when you do, (as you should) you’ll find their products very price competitive to the big brands.

So this is the moral of the story. You don’t need to look for the best moisturizer you can find because moisturizing is only a part of the story. Use products that improve overall skin health and well moisturized skin will follow.

Don’t bother watching the ads on TV to find this small company though. If you want to find them visit my website.

How Glycolic Acid Products Work

January 28th, 2010

Proven to be effective for dealing with skin problems, glycolic acid products are very popular these days. They come in many formulations, such as skin lotions and moisturizers, skin exfoliators, soaps, anti-aging creams, and facial cleansers.

So then, what exactly is glycolic acid? It part of the group of chemicals labeled fruit acids, or alpha-hydroxy acids, which are known for their skin improving qualities. This acid is extracted from sugar cane and, being both natural and organic, it has long been considered one of the best skin treatments available.

Although the beneficial effects of glycolic acid when used to treat acne and other skin conditions are proven, the details as to how this substance improves and revitalizes the appearance of the skin are still being studied. Based on studies, here the beneficial effects of glycolic acid are as follows…

- It helps improve the skin appearance through the elimination of fine lines and wrinkles.

- It penetrates into the skin and improves the flow of blood, which results in fresher looking skin.

- Skin moisture is increased by 300% when it is applied twice a day for over a period of three weeks.

- When used mixed with skin bleaching agents, it helps lighten the skin.

- It has been proven to help treat acne problems and, when it is combined with salicylic acid, it is more effective in treating acne than products containing 10% benzoyl peroxide.

- It much more effective than other regular lotions for treating sun damaged skin.

Should the glycolic acid content of a product be too little, there may well not be any noticeable effects. On the other hand, too much acid content can lead to skin damage. High concentrations of glycolic acid are even used for rust removal and degreasing. Concentrations of more than 70% can be extremely damaging. In fact, the government considers products with concentrations of above 10% already hazardous.

Being acid based, manufacturers of products with glycolic acid recognize that their products have to be neutralized so as prevent skin becoming irritated. Glycolic acid treatments, thus, have to be performed by dermatologists when the treatment involves more than a 10% concentration of the substance.

Even So, proven to be really effective in improving the skin when used appropriately, glycolic acid products have occupied a prominent space on the cosmetics market.

Things You Need To Know Before Going For Breast Enhancement

January 20th, 2010

Having a breast enhancement operation exposes you to dangers such as breast-feeding difficulties or implant leakage. Thus, it is important to visualize these common risks and side-effects to better prepare you on what to do.

Quite a number of patients who have tried breast enhancement successfully breast feed. However, there is still a possibility that it will affect the breast feeding process. Before moving through the surgery, consult your surgeon about this. Sometimes, breast enhancement leads to a loss of sensation in the nipple and breast area. This loss of sensation, which results from damaged nerve endings, may be temporary or permanent. The outcome would be based on the breast enhancement technique applied by your surgeon.

Another potential risk of getting breast enhancement operation are the leaking of the breast implant materials into the surrounding breast tissue. To decrease the possibility of leaking, make sure that the implant material that will be applied is accredited by the FDA. Implants may also break or tear over time. Usually, ruptures take place when there is excessive compression or trauma to the breast. It may also be due to the natural aging of the implant. Sometimes, it is mammography itself that presses the breast implant, thereby causing it to break.

The biggest risk in breast enhancement lies in its inference of breast cancer detection. Breast enhancement implants may conceal breast tumors during mammography or ultrasound. For patients with breast enhancement, additional views and special imaging are necessary during breast examination. The “Eklund displacement views” helps maximize the visibility of the breast tissue to further detect tumors.

Before undergoing a breast enhancement surgery, it is recommended to talk about the possible fallouts with your chosen licensed surgeon who has adequate experience in breast enhancement. Ensure that the surgeon will inform you of everything you need to know about the procedure and its fall-out.

Coming Up With How To Get Rid Of Acne On A Permanent Basis

December 18th, 2009

How to get rid of acne safely and effectively is important to know and understand, especially when you or someone close to you begins to develop this common skin condition which is more widely known among physicians as Acne vulgaris. Though adolescents aren’t the only age group to suffer from it (adults get it to) they are more often associated with it, and their self-esteem is affected when they do.

Generally speaking, the development of acne results from changes to underlying skin structures that support and operate in conjunction with a hair follicles. Usually, it is the sebaceous glands surrounding the follicles that are affected by hormonal imbalances or changes in the body and at become inflamed or otherwise develop the acne condition, which can be either inflammatory or non-inflammatory.

Each of the two is classified by their severity. Non-inflammatory acne is generally easy to treat and get rid of in most people while inflammatory acne is more severe and may require more variation in treatment. Fortunately for most, they usually end up developing only the non-inflammatory type. For those who suffer from inflammatory acne, dermabrasion may be the only option that works.

This procedure, which consists of the scraping or stripping away of outer skin layers in order to remove the sebaceous glands that are suffering from acne, is used to address severe inflammatory acne that has not proven itself amenable to treatment by other means. It is usually hormonal-based and adolescents are the most at-risk age group. Self-esteem issues are very involved in this group, also.

Generally, there is no real physical danger to acne other than possible scarring which can result, though that is certainly bad enough for many teens or young adults. Instead, those who are afflicted by severe acne tend to develop self-esteem issues that only worsen when this sort of acne appears. Social insecurity in high school aged adolescents runs high, especially when acne appears.

How to get rid of acne safely and effectively usually means learning about a few topical skin treatments or regimens that usually involve some sort of cream that is either anti-bacterial in nature or might have a prescription antibiotic within it. When neither of those two works, a mixture of the two could be prescribed or some sort of medication that is a bit more robust.

There are several other treatments, some consisting mainly of natural substances that have been proven to be effective, while others may consist of mixtures related to the chemical in aspirin. At any rate, people can do much to help themselves by changing certain behaviors such as cutting back on soda pop, chocolate or other foods that may cause in acne outbreak.

When done in conjunction with attention paid to making sure that the face or other area affected by acne is washed on a regular basis with quality soap and an anti-acne facial solution, there is great chance of success. However, if even that doesn’t work, dermabrasion — a cop was by a dermatologist — can be considered. So, knowing how to get rid of acne should serve to give some amount of comfort to those afflicted by it.

I like many of you who is reading this, had problem: how to get rid of acne? But my life totally changed and I cleared my acne for good using an entirely healthy method. Now I really feel great and I can look at myself in the mirror again! You should definitely check out my story! How to get rid of a pimples? – advice: Peter Skonctueht.

November 29th, 2009

While most teens are familiar with pimples and acne that can occur as their hormones kick in, the common assumption is teens will outgrow their acne once they are through adolescence. Actually adult acne is quite common and more and more adults are battling this stubborn skin condition.

Acne during the teen years can have a devastating effect on their self-esteem but adult acne can cause even more psychological stress. Acne in adults can be a continuation of their teenage acne or it can show up for the first time in adults. Unfortunately for some, acne can continue until their fifties and even beyond. Many women with a history of clear skin can first develop acne during pregnancy or menopause when their hormones change drastically. Adult acne can be aggravated by the stresses of career and family, along with a poor diet and unhealthy lifestyle that is so common today.

Dermatologists are finding more adults today are seeking treatment for adult acne and the increasing stressful, unhealthy lifestyles we live today are likely contributing to this increase.

Since the male hormones, androgens, are the ones behind the development of acne, it is not surprising that severe forms of acne and serious acne scarring are more common in men; however, chronic acne is more common in women. Today many women face increasingly stressful lives as they balance careers and family responsibilities, often leaving little time left over for taking care of themselves. This stress can make women more susceptible to acne as they also face the hormonal shifts of birth control pills, menstrual cycle, pregnancies and menopause.

Acne seems to be on the rise today and experts do not know exactly why. Many doctors believe stress and environmental factors such as hormones and antibiotics added to our foods, chemicals in our environment, diets high in sugar and low on nutrients are contributing to the increase.

What can you do about adult acne?

Homemade Cure For Dry Skin

November 1st, 2009

Home remedies for dry skin are pretty effective and cost much less than commercial products. In this article you will find a list of the best tips for dry skin with safe and easy to use ingredients and products. While even the best treatment for dry skin may not always be a cure, many people do find relief from bumpy dry skin using the affordable dry skin care tips outlined on this site.

Dry Skin Care Tips – Home Remedies for Dry Skin

The most important treatment for dry skin is to stop using soap. This tip is important for everyone whether you have dry, oily or normal skin. The reason is most soap are not pH balanced. For healthy problem free skin, a skin cleanser should be pH balanced. This means it should have a pH of around 7 which is neutral. If a skin care cleanser does not list the pH balance, do not use it.

The pH measures how acidic or alkaline your cleanser is. Normal healthy skin is usually in the range of 4.2 to 5.6 and a good facial cleanser cream should also be within this range. At this level, the acid mantle (the skin surface) is in good condition and is able to protect the skin from dehydration and other damaging elements of the environment like wind, sun or bacteria. A pH below 7 is considered more acidic and above 7 is more alkaline.

Other things you can do to cure dry skin is to massage emu oil into the skin. Emu oil has been around for thousands of year and has been used by the Aborigines. They had to brave the harsh sun of Australia and knew that not only can emu oil moisturize the skin; it has been known to heal and protect it. You should apply the Emu Oil each time you wash your skin and every night before you go to bed. Its best to apply the oil while the skin is still damp, not wet, and just slightly damp like right after drying it with a towel.

The Cure For Dry Skin Mask

Consider a moisture mask treatment for dry skin a few times a week. This great easy to make mask is not only great for bumpy dry skin, but helps to clean pores because honey is a natural exfoliants. So it hydrates, cleans, and softens the skin. This mask is simple too. All you need is:

- 2 egg yolks – 2 to 3 teaspoons of honey

Mix the egg yolks first, then add honey and mix completely. Massage onto skin and let it sit for 30 minutes, then rinse off and apply a good quality moisturizer.

Dry Skin Treatments and Diet

Your skin responds quickly to a healthy diet. We are so fat phobic that we often forget our bodies need a little bit of the good fat. So try adding a little more olive oil to your salads, flaxseeds to your yogurt or cereal and avocados in your salad. Science has proven the connection between low essential fat intake and skin disorders. Also, dont forget to eat your fish. Fish oil is excellent for not just the skin, but for reducing cholesterol, depression and arthritis. If you dont like fish, taking a good, high quality fish oil supplement.

Choosing A Rosacea Natural Treatment Thats Right For You

October 12th, 2009
by Jayne Barnes

Rosacea is a common skin problem that affects millions of people. It is not life threatening, but it can be an inconvenience. If you have noticed a redness that does not go away across your cheeks, nose and chin then you may have rosacea. Your doctor will be able to tell you for sure. Once you are diagnosed with rosacea you can begin to search for a rosacea natural treatment.

Your skin is an indicator of your general health. If you are an unhealthy person it will be reflected in the appearance of your skin. This is especially true for those with rosacea. People that smoke, drink excessively or eat a lot of junk foods can expect to battle rosacea symptoms quite frequently.

In your search for a rosacea natural treatment it is always wise to start by examining what you are putting into your body. Cigarettes are laden with chemicals that can not only kill you, they can also cause rosacea symptoms to keep coming back. Give your body a fighting chance by stop filling it with junk food and start eating a healthy diet that includes lots of fruits and vegetables. Increase your water intake and reduce the amount of sugar you take in. You will be amazed at how much better you look and feel after making these changes.

Next, you need to be careful what you expose your skin to. If you are in the sun a lot make sure you use a sunscreen. This rule holds true even on cloudy days. Carefully wash all make-up off your face every evening. Use only a mild cleanser so you dont dry out the skin. Never use hot or cold water when washing your face. It is important that you use lukewarm water so that you dont expose your skin to extreme temperatures and cause a rosacea flare up.

When you are looking for a rosacea natural treatment system you need to find one that will give you everything you need to take good care of your skin. This system should include things like creams to manage the redness, gentle cleansers to keep the skin clean and a collagen rebuilding serum to make the skin stronger. If you find a good system you will not have to worry about rosacea affecting your life.

Anti Aging Skin Cream Recipes

October 11th, 2009
by Aileen Fletcher

If you read the label of your anti aging skin cream jar you?ll probably find a list of active and inactive (inert) ingredients. Active ingredients are items that have an effect on your epidermis and usually only make up a small percentage of the overall formula. Inactive ingredients are used to preserve the product, make the formula appealing in color, aroma and texture, and to help effectively deliver the active ingredients to the body of the user.

By default, cosmetic aids are expected to make the user look younger if nothing else. This is commonly achieved by incorporating a rejuvenating compound into the anti aging formula so that the user?s skin, particularly around the eyes, mouth, and neck, looks smoother and with fewer wrinkles or age spots.

A typical active ingredient in an anti aging skin cream is some type of an exfoliant, a compound that helps remove dead cells from the surface of the skin through either chemical or mechanical means. Skin cells are naturally shed approximately once per month, but as you age your skin becomes less resilient and surface cells are damaged more easily by environmental factors such as sunlight. These damaged cells stay on the skin during until they are replaced. While present, damaged cells emphasize the skin?s imperfections and give an overall dullness to your skin tone.

Skin care products that contain exfoliants as part of their anti aging formula can include scrubs, moisturizers, peels, masks, washes, soaps, and exfoliating pads. Gentle products designed for use on the face make up the majority of the exfoliant market. ?Rougher? exfoliating products also exist for use on less sensitive areas of your body, such as hands, elbows, feet, etc.

Too much of any good thing can be a bad thing, and this is no less true for your skin care. Overly frequent or harsh treatment can damage your epidermis and lead to soreness, acne, or possibly an allergic reaction. Read the label of any product for recommended use and then follow the directions. Also be sure to check the ingredient list for items that you know may cause you to react adversely.

Products geared towards smoothing or lessening wrinkles are a common delivery mechanism for an effective anti aging formula. Examples of the active ingredients in these types of products are extracts from plants and fruits such as papaya, grape seeds, or even green tea leaves. Less noticeable wrinkles lead to smoother skin and a generally younger look.

Treatments to combat the ravages of age are not limited to an anti aging skin cream that you purchase over the counter, or solely to things that come in a jar. Physical techniques to improve epidermal tone, vitality and texture are available from spas, clinics, or your dermatologist?s office. Microderm abrasion is an example of an advanced treatment usually administered in an outpatient setting.

As you can see there are many different types of products and treatments available to someone interested in a more youthful look, particularly in respect to achieving younger looking skin. Further research about finding an anti aging skin cream that is formulated to meet your particular needs should be easy to accomplish.
