Why Are Tankinis So Appealing?

August 13th, 2009
by Alexis Miller

What is a woman looking for when she’s shopping for swimwear? I would have to go with “great fit.” That, in my mind, is the number one concern, follow closely by how the suit looks. So, seeing how fit and style are the most important factors, why would swimsuit companies produce suits that you have to buy the tops and bottoms separately?

I shouldn’t have to address that here. If you are a woman that has been through the process of purchasing and fitting a swimsuit, you’ll know innately. The buying and fitting process is exasperating.

The tankini has become super popular across the world for a number of reasons. They seem to fit any size woman, including pregnant women. They are extremely versatile and can work for any type of woman. It’s hard to find a great fitting one-piece and worse to find a bikini that you feel sexy in.

Women also have suits for different occasions. She may want one to wear in the privacy of her own home and a separate one to wear in public places. The good thing about tankinis is that you can actually coordinate them with your favorite outfit and wear them simultaneously for the perfect combination of public and private.

You can easily team up a skimpy bottom with a more full top. The options are really endless. With a tankini, you’re literally not bound to use it in just one situation. Would you go to the movies in a bikini? But maybe a tankini with a skirt. Simple and painless.

People are turning to tankinis because they offer swimsuit solutions that were previously unavailable in any type of suit. I personally love tankinis.

Be aware though that finding a tankini that fits just right might still be an issue. My guess is that after shopping for just a few minutes, you’ll find what you want. If all else fails, just abandon that lines and the crowds and hop online.

By shopping online you’ll never have to hit the lines at the department store or fight the crowds. You’ll be able to shop in the comfort of your own home. Oh, and you’ll never have to face one of the ten-sided mirrors that make you wince as you see yourself. Tankinis are awesome.

There Are Many Reasons Why A Woman Loves Her Black Bikini

July 24th, 2009
by Helen Short

Whenever one discovers the saying “dark is beautiful” it means different things to different people and is something that has more than a passing reference to black people or any social connotation since black embodies true fine-looking that it encompasses everything from black cats, suits of clothes, pants, dresses and of course the black bikini. However, it is necessary to differentiate between black and darkness, and even though black is certainly dark, it need not necessarily signify doom and gloom and can even be thought of as being blissful as well.

Belief Of peacefulness

Viewing somebody sporting a black bikini will give an impression of serenity and it can also signify a pause in the hustle and bustle of everyday busy lives, and black also signifies class and it is also a beauty that is too beautiful to describe. And, though it may also have some negative connotations, to really appreciate the color black, one must see the effect it has when it is worn by a woman who anyway look stunning in different black apparel including the ubiquitous black panty. The reason why a black bikini is so appreciated by everyone is because it helps to highlight a woman’s curves while at the same time concealing flabby parts of the body by drawing attention to areas of the body that need to be accentuated and which are the woman’s best assets.

Although rocking a black two-piece will draw attention, it is never rude or insulting nor even crude and it certainly does its bit in making the wearer’s presence noticed and that is why it is normal to see so many women sporting a black bikini on the beach or by the pool.

When a woman wears a black bikini it helps to make a sexy body look sexier and even if a woman is not too curvaceous, there is still enough in the black bikini to make her appear curvaceous. It is thus little wonder that almost all beauty pageants and bikini contests as well as the best movies show women wearing a black bikini, which in decent light heightens the appeal of the wearer.

You can choose between all black panties, or settle for those that have stripes or even tiny prints, and whether the black bikini is one piece or two-piece, the color black is most preferred, and that is why you see famous celebrities and top notch models sporting a bikini that not surprisingly is black in color for most of their photos and even when they are out vacationing.

Mastectomy Swimwear – Where Do I Start?

June 12th, 2009
by Joshlyn Jensen

Ah, the wonderful task of finding that new sexy swimsuit. Now, just add to that the element of finding the perfect swimwear after a mastectomy, and man, that’s got to be the funnest shopping venture ever, right?

Okay, so the fact of the matter is that, after a mastectomy, shopping for a new swimsuit that makes you feel full and beautiful can definitely be a daunting task. But don’t let it get you down! Shopping for mastectomy-friendly swimwear isn’t as tricky as you may think.

The best way to go with mastectomy swimwear is not to look for a special swimsuit with built-in inserts, but to look for an entire line of swimwear that works with the inserts you’ve already purchased separately. Usually its not too hard to find a line of swimwear that has been custom designed with that desired versatility in mind.

Your quest could begin with an internet search with something as simple as Mastectomy Swimwear or Mastectomy Friendly Swimsuit. You could also throw in some other keywords like pockets for inserts, etc. Not every company does it for all of their swimsuits, so you’ll have to be specific.

Once you begin your search, you’ll quickly find that there are several companies out there that have been providing swimwear designed with post-operative women in mind for many years. You’ll also find that there are many different styles of swimwear available in this line as well.

The trick that some companies have figured out is that with most swimsuits, at least a thin layer of foam over the breast is preferred for added comfort and concealment. This same effect can be achieved with a secret pocket that can be used for inserts as well. Companies that have figured this out usually have fitted most – if not their entire swimwear line – in this fashion.

Also as you search you’ll find companies that cater for women of all sizes, whether they have had a reconstruction, a lumpectomy or a single or double mastectomy. As you’ll see, there is no shortage of one-piece suits, two-piece tankinis, and even several bikinis with pockets for inserts.

So begin that search with confidence! You can find that sexy swimsuit that makes you feel beautiful! Whether you’re going for something more modest and conservative, sleek and sexy, or something in between, just know that they’re out there ” and they’ve been designed with you in mind.

Lingerie Trends 2009: What Do The Catwalks Say?

April 14th, 2009
by Writers Den

While all of us realize that our lingerie sojourns are going to be limited to the bedroom most of the time, it is still great to know that whatever we are wearing underneath our clothes is trendy, modern and stylish. Lingerie trends change every season just the way outerwear and party clothes change trends, and being hip means that you are trendy and hip down to the last thread you are wearing, right? So if you want to know whats in in 2009, then we present here some of the most popular designer lingerie trends that we saw and will see burning up the ramps in 2009.

Fabrics: A large number of designers showcased organic cotton lingerie in their 2009 collections. While organic cotton is definitely in, so is pure satin and silk lingerie. Sheers are going to be very popular for nightwear. Lace is once again going to be popular, as most lingerie this season is very very feminine in nature and style. You will see all kinds of laces combined with cotton and satins in underwear this season. However, unlike classy neutral combinations in lace, 2009 sees lace being used in bold bright colors and combinations.

Colors: The lingerie runway in 2009 has mostly been a riot of color. While neutrals like beige, skin tones, crmes and blacks will never lose their stake in the lingerie market, this season has seen the revival of bold hues that aim to offset the depressing economical climate. Cotton and silk lingerie can be found in bright vibrant colors, with some of the most popular colors this year being shades of pink, purple, blue and green.

Cuts And Styles: Most designers have showcased lingerie at least some cuts and styles that go back to Victorian ages. Underwear items with feminine frills, ruffles and ties are hugely popular in 2009. So are garter belts. A number of designers have featured embroidery on bottom fronts and combined it with ruffles on sheer fabrics for a romantic look. Another major lingerie trend in 2009 is going to be geometric cuts and straps on the back and the front. This cut is generally combined with bright bold hues while the ruffled ladylike look is achieved using neutral and classic shades. As far as bras and panties go, minimum coverage with maximum support is in, because while most garments are structured, they are cut as small as possible. Huge coverall bras and panties are hardly going to be in this season!

Prints: Prints have come raging back like a jungle fire to lingerie ramps in 2009. Animal prints are a rage this season and if you are thinking browns and blacks, then you can come again. Animal prints on lingerie in 2009 come in all imaginable colors, with pink, purple and green being the most popular! Floral prints of all kinds, ranging from modern and abstract to romantic and lifelike are another hot item on the lingerie ramps this year. Most lingerie designers have also experimented with geometrics in 2009. Polka dots in all shapes and sizes, materials and colors are another hot print on lingerie items. Many designers have also introduced metallic and embossed prints on lingerie, especially in geometric and dot patterns.

Tips for Choosing Maternity Swimwear

March 27th, 2009
by Joanne Garrett

Today there are much wider maternity swimwear choices available than there was just a few years ago.

One good reason for this is that swimming, and forms of exercise in water such as aerobics have become very popular and recommended by health professionals. Gentle exercise in water can play a key role in pregnancy, keeping the mum-to-be healthy and in good shape for the birth and afterwards. Therefore swimsuit manufacturers have responded to this trend by producing wide ranges of practical maternity swimwear including maternity swimsuits and tankinis for pregnant women.

In addition, mums-to-be have also influenced the expanding style portfolios of swimwear fashion designers, asking for the same levels of style and design details they had in their usual swimwear be transferred to maternity swimwear too.

A maternity swimsuit is a one piece option suitable for the pool and beach and for swimming or water exercise such as aquareobics too in your local swimming pool.

Maternity swimsuits are made with comfort in mind. Support is often in the form of a special built in fabric shelf. However, comfort and ease is usually coupled with cool design details and stylish touches.

One fashionable idea is ruched maternity swimsuits where the material is gathered at the sides for a flattering look. Another is to use ties or bows to give a focal point to the swimsuit.

Maternity tankinis are a great compromise for pregnant women who want to wear flattering swimwear by the beach or at the pool.

A maternity tankini is a two piece item of maternity swimwear but the tankini is a top and covers more of the body than a maternity bikini would.

Also, tankinis are a hot beachwear fashion at the moment and so by selecting a maternity tankini, a mum to be doesn’t have to feel as though she is losing out in the fashion stakes or having to settle for something frumpy when she could be wearing trendy maternity swimwear instead.
