by Paul Wright

Technology has changed the way we do things, particularly the way we communicate. With the introduction of the telephone, and then the mobile phone, more and more new products are appearing on the market on a regular basis making communicating that much easier. Part of this new technology has enabled us to do reverse search look ups. It wasn’t that long ago it was a difficult task to trace a phone number, – even more so if it was a cell phone.

There are specialized telecommunication companies who have targeted a niche of providing consumers with reverse cell phone look ups. The databases of these companies are huge, storing over 98% of all phone numbers within the U.S.A. The cellular carriers are paid a fee by these companies to access their data bases and then on sell this data to the retail market for a small fee for the reverse search numbers.

This information is now readily available to the consumer which can assist is solving many disturbing situations such as the following:

1. Should you be receiving annoying and disturbing calls from a prank caller. You are now able to trace this caller, retrieve their name, address and then take action to resolve the situation.

2. In the past when you receive your monthly phone bills, has there been a number/s you cannot account for? If so, now you have the means of checking the caller’s name and address if you want.

3. Perhaps there’s a school reunion coming up and you want to trace an old school friend you have lost contact with. With this service, this is now possible.

4. How often you have missed a call and there is a number showing which you don’t recognize? It is now possible to locate this caller’s name and address very easily.

5. There are times when you may want the callers address. By subscribing to this service, you now have the means of gaining this information. The free versions of this software does not provide this service.

The above 5 points have listed some of the major benefits of having the ability to do a reverse phone number look up. There will be other benefits you can put this very useful software to use.

Locate Cell Phone Owner – How to Find People By Phone Number

March 25th, 2009
by Jonathan Templeton

Did you ever miss a call and didn’t recognize the number of the caller? Or have you picked up your spouse’s phone or your child’s and seen a number you weren’t sure about? Sure, you can see the number, but for some good reason, you can’t just call back and find out who it is on the other end of that line?

In the old days, if the person on the other end was using a cell phone, there was no way for you to find out who it was. It was pretty much impossible to trace cell phone numbers back then because there was no big phone company database of all the cellphone numbers out there. And there still isn’t. Cell phone companies have always looked at cellphones as being private lines and kept them unlisted.

Seeing that this was a problem, some really bright people decided to take matters into their own hands and make their own databases. After a lot of hard work over several years they built huge databases of cell phone numbers and other unlisted numbers. When that work was done, they created websites and made those databases accessible to anyone with an internet connection.

Thanks to all the work done by others, now it’s rather easy to use reverse telephone directories online. All you do, is go to one of the reverse lookup sites and put in the number you’re trying to lookup. The web engine will search the database and come up with the results for that number. This is where things get a little dicey for the user.

Because this market is growing as fast as the cell phone market – think about how the iphone has taken off – there are a lot of websites out there claiming to have great databases of unlisted cell phone numbers for you to lookup. The difficulty comes in trying to figure out which one is actually worth using. With that in mind, let me give you some tips on what you should look for:

Are there a lot of positive comments out there about them? As you stumble across blogs, review sites, etc. do you see good news about their services? Any ripoff reports out there? If most of the news is good, you’re probably looking at a decent site.

Is it advertised as a free reverse lookup site? If so, you might want to think twice. In my experience there really isn’t a truly free cell phone reverse lookup site available online. You might find some sites that will look up landlines free, but the sites that claim to offer free cell phone number lookups actually aren’t free at all. They just bury their fees until the last step in the process.

Can you test the database? A reputable reverse directory site will allow you to enter one phone number and check to see if they have the name and address associated with that number in their database before you actually pay them money. Do not pay for a reverse lookup service unless they will allow you to test their database with at least one of the numbers you’re going to look up.

Tracing Cellphone Numbers – Using Reverse Cell Phone Lookup Sites

March 19th, 2009

You pick up your phone just seconds too late and you have no idea whose number is on your phone. How can you find out who that caller is? If the person on the other end of the line is in your address book, that’s easy – but what if they were calling from a cell phone? Your Caller ID won’t work for that. When this happens to you, you really only have one option – a reverse cellphone lookup.

A reverse cellphone lookup makes it easy to trace cell phone numbers back to the owner. Maybe you think your spouse might be cheating, maybe there are some suspicious calls on your child’s phone, maybe it’s just prank calls and you can’t figure out who it is, no matter what the reason, a reverse cellphone lookup can be just the thing to help you get the information you need.

When you’ve decided you’ve had enough, all you need to do is choose a reverse lookup site to use. If you do a Google search no reverse phone lookups, you’ll find a bunch of services out there. But be careful what you use. Most of those services are for landline numbers like people’s home numbers. That’s why you get all those annoying calls on your home phone at the most inopportune times. Almost every home phone number in America is cross-indexed in a massive central database.

But cell phone numbers do not work the same as home phone numbers. Cell phone numbers are supposed to be considered more private by the phone company, so they don’t appear in phonebooks or the central database. That’s why sites that actually have good databases chargefees for their servics. They are simply passing along the cost of pulling all that information together and putting it into a searchable format for you to use.

I have researched the reverse cell phone look up industry for quite some time. After all that work, I have yet to find a truly free reverse cellphone lookup site. Again, if you Google that term, you’re going to find a lot of sites that will claim to offer free services. However, they really aren’t free at all. The only sites that actually work are the paid sites.

I’ve found that the best sites are the ones with upfront fees. My only requirement is that they allow you to check to see if the information you’re needing is available before charging you anything. Also, you should consider using a subscription-based service. That way you pay one fee for the entire year and can look up as many numbers as you need.

After you’ve chosen a service, the actual lookup itself is quite easy. Just fill out a quick webform with the number, including area code, and in just a few moments you’ll have the name, address and possibly even more information about the caller. There’s even a site that will map the person’s location for you so you can see exactly where they live. Is anything better than that?

In summation, if you have a problem caller or just need to know about someone on your spouse’s or child’s phone, it’s easy to get the information you need, fast and cheap, if you pick the right reverse cell phone lookup site.
