Why Does Your Car Must Have A Vehicle Speed Sensor?

August 19th, 2009
by Mbonda Nkopit

You could be wondering why exactly your car needs a vehicle speed sensor. Clearly knowing how fast you’re going is critical, but how exactly is this information used and why is it needed? Find out for yourself the power of the automobile speed sensor under.

A vehicle speed sensor is actually far more complicated than what you may have realized. Today’s sensors actually make the vehicles you drive safer and protect the passengers from a variety of hazards, by acting in ways and at speeds that humans simply can’t do.

The first invention with the automobile speed sensor came in the antilock brake systems, or ABS, which we all now know about. By capitalizing on magnetic and electric currents, the velocity of the wheels may be more meticulously and quickly gauged compared to older techniques.

Moving on in our look at the car speed sensor from antilock brakes, next up are traction control systems. Traction control systems were a natural development from ABS, and they have the added power of having the ability to compare and adjust for the speed of the driven wheels from the velocity of the wheels on the other axis.

The powers of antilock brakes and traction control have made automobiles over the decade or 2 noticeably safer than they were formerly. Having the power of a vehicle speed sensor in all vehicles has saved many lives, and now manufacturers have been taking things a step further.

The most recent technology is a total electronic stability control system. This type of system builds on these technologies for a far more complete automobile speed sensor. In truth, multiple sensors are utilized in the wheels, the wheel, the brakes and the throttle to color a complete picture of an auto’s performance and your reactions in all situations.

So if you’re taking a turn too sharply or hit a slick spit, all of these factors are instantly computed and a reaction is immediately put into effect, saving many accidents from ever going down. Early reports have shown that this application of the automobile speed sensor has reduced heavy injuries from single car collisions by as much as 50%.

While many folks feel a car speed sensor permanence system must now be mandatory, they are not yet. However, in some regions to have a five star safety rating the auto must use a vehicle speed sensor system in this fashion. If you’re trying to find the most in safety for you and your relations, get an automobile that features this sort of safety.

Tips For Travelling Iceland

August 13th, 2009
by Graham McKenzie

Iceland is a mountainous island in the North Atlantic, located between Europe and North America. Although a bit austere, Iceland is a country of unreserved natural splendor. The almost unreal beauty of lava eruptions, hot springs, geysers, fissures and glaciers make this land truly unique. Nordic and Celtic people settled Iceland in the 9th century, and in fact, Ing?lfur Arnarson, a Norwegian Viking, founded the first settlement on the site known as present day Reykjavik, which is Iceland?s capital city.

Of all the tourist attractions, one of the most famous, and certainly the most popular, is the Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis. Some people actually think they are only visible during the winter months, but actually, you can see them all year long. The Midnight Sun is another tourist favorite. Occurring in Scandinavia during early summer, the Midnight Sun means just what it says?the sun is visible at midnight. Its opposite, the Polar Night, occurs in winter.

At some point in your vacation, you will most likely spend some time in Reykjavik City, Iceland?s capital. It is one of the cleanest, greenest cities in the world, and the nightlife is vibrant. The variety of pubs, bars, cafes and dance halls is endless, and live music is becoming a trademark. In fact, there is at least one concert on any given night. The assortment of local craft shops and Scandinavian designer stores making shopping an adventure, as does the Kringlan shopping mall.

Of course, if you come to Iceland, you simply must try a whale-watching tour. A natural habitat for whales, dolphins and seals, the ocean surrounding Reykjavik is ideal for catching a glimpse. Tours will generally pass by Puffin Island, too. Built in 1988, and considered to be Reykjavik?s landmark, the Perlan, or Pearl, is located under a large glass dome. This dome sits atop huge tanks, which are used to store the natural hot water for heating the city, and houses a rotating restaurant. The cuisine is divine, and the views spectacular.

If Viking history is an interest of yours, you most definitely want to check out some of Reykjavik?s museums. The Sun Voyager should be another stop on your list of things to do. This Sun Voyagers is a huge steel sculpture of a Viking ship, by Jon Gunnar Arnason. You definitely want to view this sculpture at sunrise or sunset. Another attraction you can?t miss is the Restaurant Fjorugardurinn. Done up in the Viking style, and serving up a traditional Viking feast, this one-of a-kind eating establishment lets you to step back into time, and taste a little Viking culture.

A very popular tourist attraction in Iceland is the Blue Lagoon. This outdoor, geothermal seawater pool is approximately 45-minutes, by car, from Reykjavik. The fluorescent blue pool, covered in steam, stays at about 104-degrees all year long.

This amazing country offers tourists a wide variety of unique experiences, and all of them delight and awe. Dramatic, striking, and eerily austere, a trip to Iceland is truly memorable.

Why Do We Develop Vertigo And Dizziness?

August 10th, 2009
by Christian Goodman

It is actually amazing that we can in fact stand on two feet without falling. And not only that, many of us can run, jump, spin around in circles or even ride a bike down a steep stony mountain hill without falling.

Notwithstanding specific impairments, the human balance system allows us to do this.

But unfortunately, the balance system does not always function right and when it stops functioning we experience a feeling called vertigo or dizziness (I’ll talk about it as the same thing here because the cause is the same although these two feelings are experienced in a different way).

We’ve all felt dizziness and had vertigo at some time in our life. Be it from sailing in bad waves, driving on a dusty road, traveling to a high altitude or even having a few too many at the bar (I could tell you some stories).

Luckily for most people it is only a temporary situation that quickly blows over and no solution needs to be sought.

Chronic dizziness or vertigo affects a huge number of people. They experience this unsteady feeling daily or at least many times throughout the year.

This kind of chronic vertigo/dizziness is caused by problems with the balance system.

Below are the three balance systems we all have

eyes ears body sense

Our balance system is so advantaged that even if one part goes out, we may feel it a little but we’ll still function pretty much normally. Most blind people can walk normally – so can a person who has problems with the balance system in his/her ears.

We need to exercise all three sytems though, because we are not so fortunate when more than one of our balance systems is experiencing problems.

How can we improve our balance system?

Almost always dizziness or vertigo is due to the balance systems suffering from muscle tension surrounding key areas (head to pelvic region, ears or eyes.)

Ear impairments will cause you to view your surrounds slightly differently than the balance system in your eyes do.

The unsteady feeling is the result of the brain trying to process these different perceptions.

If you’ve ever tried eyeglasses that are too strong for you, you know exactly what I mean.

Now if your balance system in your ear was 100% and your body’s balance system was 100% – you could still function pretty well even if there was a problem with the eye’s balance system. But it hardly ever is so you feel dizzy or even experience the world spinning around you.

But, if you loosen and strengthen the muscles surrounding all three systems, relief can be found.

Vertigo and dizziness can be diminished though without achieving perfection in all three balance systems. All three functioning at 70% is enough to sustain an overall good quality of life with regard to balance. My vertigo and dizziness program accomplishes this.

Do You Need Travel Insurance?

August 10th, 2009
by Graham McKenzie

While planning your well-deserved vacation of a lifetime, you probably don?t think abut all the situations that might prompt a dramatic change of plans. Whether you plan to travel outside of your country or stay a little closer to home, you should give some thought to travel insurance. No one can control delayed departures, trip cancellations or worse yet, medical expenses or the need to be present at a funeral. Giving some thought to ?what if? scenarios before your trip might spare you disappointment later.

What is travel insurance? It is a contract provided by a third party to compensate you for financial investments made in your trip in addition to certain unexpected expenses such as medical bills and other emergency costs during travel. Travel insurance is usually offered by your airline, travel agent, and travel supplier or perhaps by a travel insurance company – generally when you are booking your trip. Word of warning though ? the travel insurance offered by the travel supplier can be more restrictive on what is covered than what you might be offered by an independent travel insurance provider.

You can find a wide variety of features which can be included or excluded from travel insurance offers so that you only purchase coverage for situations that fit your circumstances. Among the possible choices are coverage for medical treatment expenses, emergency evacuation to another location, certain types of cancellations, and delayed transportation departures. Personal liability and rental car damage expenses may also be included.

The travel insurance is applicable to all, even such people who are suffering from asthma or diabetes. In case your trip includes dangerous sports like scuba diving, mountaineering, or skiing, you will notice that your coverage amount will be slightly more. You may also notice that if you are traveling to countries rife with war, natural calamities, or militant actions, your policy price will be higher.

Some travel insurance providers or policies may exclude some of higher risk destinations, activities, or medical conditions. As with any of your other insurance policies, your travel insurance policy may not cover losses that are intentional or for which you are at fault.

In case you are an expectant mother and are traveling, you may buy a travel insurance to take care of any crisis situation during journey, however, the insurance companies have their own stipulations, about the progress in your pregnancy. In case you are in an advanced stage, which is beyond their permissible stage, in that case, you may not be able to buy a policy that will cover your expenses.

Even if your trip goes perfectly and you do not have to follow a claim, you will still be able to take advantage of your travel insurance policy. You will have 24/7 access to exclusive policy holder services. Concierge services may be available to help you plan another trip, purchase tickets, or rent a car. You will also be able to access emergency travel assistance whenever you need it and wherever you are. Vacations are a time to enjoy yourself. For just 5-7% of the overall cost of your trip, you can purchase a travel insurance policy and peace of mind.

Lowering Your Monthly 4×4 Insurance Rates

August 10th, 2009
by Susan Reynolds

4×4 insurance rates are often higher than the rates for other vehicles and take extra effort to find good rates for. Your 4×4 will be seen by insurers as extra risky and more hazardous, making your insurance rates much higher. You can avoid these prices by taking the right actions. The most important factor to getting low rates is to search online for multiple different quotes.

If you have a garage or underground parking then you will be able to help lower your premium. This is because a vehicle that?s parked indoors is less likely to get singled out for theft or vandalism. The insurance company will be able to reduce your rates if you?re able to reduce the risk of something happening to your vehicle.

Extra driving experience on 4×4 vehicles is also a plus for insurance agents. You might have to borrow a vehicle from a friend or family member to gain this experience, but it can shave a few dollars from your monthly payments. With a little experience under your belt you will be more comfortable with the handling a 4×4 before you sit behind the wheel of your own. Obviously, a few years of experience driving one is better than a few weeks.

Keeping your driving record clean is always an important part to getting low insurance rates. The fewer claims you have on your record, the better. If an insurance agent sees you already have several different claims they will charge you even more for insurance just because you are at a higher risk. If you manage to go for a period of time without any claims you may subject for a claims bonus, a discount given to drivers after about a year of claims-free driving. Mention that you this and your insurance agent will work to get you the best rates possible. Sometimes you may want to pay for an accident yourself just to save money that may add up to more if spend on increased rates from claims. This only works if the accident was very small and with little damage.

Security measures are very important on 4×4 vehicles. Obviously hiding your truck or SUV in a garage helps lessen the chance of theft, but premium safety features are extra assurances agents like to see. The security of your vehicle is divided by categories. You will want to find a 4×4 rated with 1 or 2 security systems. As technology increases you may want to try upgrading your vehicle to accommodate new features.

If you are in the military or National Guard be sure to mention it to your agent. Insurance companies offer special rates for these individuals without much hassle. If you are not in the military try to take advantage of the other discounts available to get lower rates. Search around online and compare quotes to find the company with the lowest prices before visiting their company for an in depth policy.
